From what I know ... she can live off base only if she is an E-4 or above OR if she is married OR if she has a child. If she is single and no children, barracks.

Debbie -- my son lives on base at Mayport. There are A LOT of 2nd hand stores and pawn shops that you can get furniture fairly cheap. Does your son have a car or truck to haul stuff? Or a buddy with a one?

Yeah it is kinda sad, eveyone keeps to themselves in our neighbourhood as well. I actually have an interview tomorrow. We have been here almost three months and it has been really hard to find a job. That is awesome that you are coming to visit; my mom has been down a few times as well. My husband and I are actually expecting our first child in January! Have a good trip

Hi Diane! Yes my husband and I have been in Mayport since the beginning of June. We live in the off base military housing. I really like it here. How long has your son and daughter in law been here? send me a P.M. if you would like and let me know what he does and what ship he is on and etc. I will send you my husbands info. Small world isn't it? Congratulations on the new Grandbaby. That is great. Cory is stationed in Little Creek, VA which is right outside Virgina Beach. He is an engine man. I also have a nephew stationed at Norfolk which is right next door. He is a Lt. and a helicopter pilot. It is kinda nice them being stationed so close together. I am going down to Virginia next week to do some paper work with Cory before he is deployed.

I really wish that I could come this evening, but we already had plans with it being such short notice. I really would like to get together in two weeks or so if you are still game.

Hi Diane...Thanks for getting in touch with me. That is wonderful that you live so close. I live in the historic part if you will of Amherst. Near Amherst hospital. I would love to get together with other moms in Lorain.

Jim is stationed in Gulfport, Mississippi, he is a Seabee. He will be deployed in February and I know it is going to be an extremely hard time when that happens becuase he won't be on a ship but on the ground rebuilding Afghan and it scares me to death.

Sorry I was in limbo for a bit.... was off in Oak Harbor helping take care of my grandmother... and then I caught some head cold... been on antibiotics since last Wed.... and it's just plain miserable to be sick in the summer.... I finally lost my voice yesterday..... anyhow... we'll get something schedule in the future... PROMISE :o)... and when we do set it up... PLEASE invite Julie.... we should try to do some sort of get together like every month or once every other month.... anyhow... I will be in touch soon... once I get to feeling better!!!! :o) Jules
