What an absolutely beartiful prayer. Sometimes the right thing comes at the moment we need it. This is one of those moments. Thanks to whomever wrote this prayer.

Thanks for the Prayer. My eyes are full. The logo for this group is so heartwarming. My sailor just had St. Michael tattooed on his back. I don't particularly care for tattoos but since he was compelled to get one, I'll never argue the choice. God B…

Thank you Dianne for this wonderful prayer. I have not seen it before but will do as others here and print it to pray everyday. I am new to Catholic Moms and fairly new to N4M.

Profile Information

About me:
I am 49-years-old and have been married for 34 years. My husband and I have three children and 11 grandchildren. Andrew is our youngest. "Drew" graduated from boot camp in June, and is currently waiting to class up for A School. With Andrew being our youngest, it makes it more difficult for me to let him go, because it is the first time in 32 years that we have no children at home. I have been a mom for so long, and Drew is the last to leave. It has definitely been a roller coaster ride, yet we are so very proud of our boy!
I am here to support or represent my:
Andrew (Drew)
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
My dad was in the Navy, so I believe it's a really good branch of the service. My husband has been a civilian employee for the DOD working on Submarines for 34 years, and our oldest son has been doing the same for 7 years. I do have faith in the Navy ... they generally do tend to take care of their people.

I have learned over the last 6 months that Andrew is indeed an adult, and as such, he needs to make his own decisions. I am proud to say that he is doing quite well at it, too! At this point in his life, we have completed our job of raising him, hopefully with good morals and values, and our main job now is to be here supporting and affirming him whenever he calls.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Drew is back in CT

Andrew has been home for the last week while on hold from A School. While home, he has been so active, which is so unlike what he was before he joined the Navy. Before Navy he was ALWAYS at home. Now he is always out. While I was happy that he was going out, I couldn't help feel that I was being "Shut out." When I would ask him where he was going he would say, "I'm an adult now. I've lived on my own." He's 20. He didn't stay out really late, maybe 1:00 am, and not every night. He watched movies… Continue

Unexpected Phone Call

Yesterday I received a phone call from California! That was unexpected for me. At first I thought, "Another bill collecter?" Since Dennis's serious illnes last year we have not been able to catch up. It was a good thing I picked up the phone. She said that her name was Darcy, and she was from California. Then she said, "I have your son's Navy pictures." I replied with a stunned and disappointed, "Whhhaaat? Oh No." Drew graduated on June 20th, and I still have not seen his pictures, which of cour… Continue

Sorta Bad Day for Mom

Today was a kind of bad day. I know it sounds silly, but my husband and I went grocery shopping (bi-weekly) for the first time since Drew left. It started out okay, but before you knew it I just needed very badly to get out of there. I kept seeing all of Drew's favorite foods, foods I would often buy for him (he loves turkey pepperoni), and then since January trying so hard to buy things he would like that would help him make the body fat ratio, like flavored Aquafina water, edible pea pods, etc… Continue

Just thinking about you and Drew. My Drew had a difficult time finding a job, and just told me that he joined the National Guard. WHAT?? I don't know of any National Guard Websites. How are you?

Hi Dianne, I was wondering how Drew's mom is doing. I made it through boot camp with my Andy. He's in Goose Creek now for A school.
Easter night we sat with our second son, Brian, at the hotel where he reported for active duty. He's been at GL for a week now. We got his kid box on Friday. So... Finnegan, begin again!
Here we go. A lot of my worries are belayed this time around, but this is my baby. He's never been on his own, and has always been here. I liked your post about how Drew was home, but always "out" when he came home from A school... I'm wondering what kind of changes we will see in our Brian! God bless our boys, and God bless you!

Diane, thank you so much for taking the time to show support and concern. My son was in for three solid years, and actually signed up for five. Still waiting to get a call from him, this is so hard to sit and wonder. I just want to talk to him face to face and help him get his life in order. I know he's 22 but he still needs direction and family behind him. I hope he doesn;t lose sight of that. Thanks again, and my best to your son.

Hello - how's the weather? I spoke to Sarah last night and she is very nervous about her plan. They offered her a lot to go to GITMO, but it will be a long year.
We just got our internet to work at the house last night. Tony promises to update the blog soon. He would like your address so he can send you some sand. How does your sister like the Jeep? Tony is missing it, he has to walk everywhere. We have renamed Nick, he is now known as 'mule' becuase he has to carry everything up the hill to our house (luckily he likes it). The container is scheduled to arrive on Monday so hopefully we will have our things by the end of next week!! We are really ready to be settled. The dogs seem to be very happy, especially as there is no lease law. I have to get some sleep, tomorrow Tony and I are going to the capital city to do some shopping. The univeristy provides a van every Saturday morning for anyone who wants to go to the city to shop. It is an hour drive, but along the coast the whole way. How is Drew doing?

I just got a phone message from Sarah that she got her order to go to Guantanamo! Seems like she volunteered to serve for a year a guard. She is to graduate from A school in two weeks in Aviation Electronic Tech. I'm in shock but she spoke to my parents and convinced them that she has a plan. I'll keep you posted.....

I was just thinking about you and Drew. Wade is doing well in college and it is nice having him home. Now what we had planned but it is going well. My Drew still has a difficult time find a job. And then I wondered how your Drew was doing.
