Kathy, thanks for responding. Was Sara able to do anything to fix it, or did she just go hungry? My son gets grumpy as a bear when he gets hungry and he's not able to concentrate in school. Any suggestions at all?
Good afternoon everyone. I just found this group and joined!! My son is in A school in Pensacola for CTR training. He just started classes a few weeks ago after being on hold for over two months. So I have a question that I hope someone can help m...
Hi Donna,
Your tip about the Hilton Garden Inn was great. I called the Inn to book for the first week in Sept but they said they didn't know anything about a special. I told them a family had recently stayed there and the special was quoted at $79...
PIR Travel Tips: I posted a discussion on this last week, however, it's completely buried now. I see a lot of people on here asking questions about travel arrangements, so I am going to copy the information here. I hope it's helpful.
My son's PIR...
Mom to 2 Sailors: How did you son fight it? Did he get legal advice within the Navy? Did he go through his recruiter? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Based on some research I did last night, it sounds like when this happens, the recruits are allowed to have a legal representative present when they pick their new job (of course, it's a Navy JAG). It sounds like the Navy pressures them to pick a ...
Thanks everyone for the welcome.
Colleen: So there is C school after A school? What exactly is C school, and is always in Texas for the CTR's?
I noticed several people on here have kids stationed in the Middle East. Does anyone know what the odd...
Hi Peggy. My son was reclassified while in BC. He was originally signed up for Aircrew but I was upset by that because my son did not know how to swim, and to be Aircrew, you have to be able to swim as well as the SAR's (Search & Rescue). My son s...
Hi everyone!! I'm so glad I found this site -- it has already answered a few questions. My son graduated from BC on July 24, and arrived in P-cola last week. He is going to be a CTR. Actually, his original contract was for Aircrew, but he wasn't a...
KC Mom: I had to have my son back to the base every night -- he didn't get to sleep off base. I guess a few of them do get to, but most had to be back on base each night. Anyhow, he usually needed to be back by 8:00 p.m.
Darbsmom: The hotel's web...
do you have a number for that hotel, I have to get two rooms and want to book it as soon as I get PIR date. Do you just tell them you are there for graduation, and were there lots of other families there also for graduation? thanks so much
My son's PIR was on 7/24, and I did attend the graduation. I wanted to pass along what I hope is some helpful information for those of you awaiting your loved ones PIR date.
First of all -- for those of you who have never been to Chicago (like me...
I am the proud mother of Michael. My husband and I are very proud of his choice to join the Navy. He is my only child, so it's a little difficult but I think it's the right path for him.
I am here to support or represent my:

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I can survive while my son is in boot camp.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
Hi Donna - I do training for Fitness instructors so was out of communication for a few days - but I am going to try to get a hold of my son to find out how he fought it because he did and got his bonus. I will get back - keep smiling. Hugs, Kathy
And yes, Derek said that he had no problem with BC, so that made me feel good because he didn't give me details of how he did on PT tests and everything so I was worried the whole time. It was nice to find out that he was fine. :-)
Hi! A Cryptologist decodes information and yes, Derek is doing that. :-)
Graduation was really great. It was soooooo good to finally see him after so long. It's really an unexplainable feeling. Derek is in Pensacola. He called last night and I talked to him for 15 minutes or so. He said it's great there.
Sorry it took me so long to reply to you- I haven't been on here much this week. :-)
Hi Donna,
If they can't pass their test's or other phyiscal test's they have to go to other Div.'s that graduate later. Until they are able to pass everything. Chase said that their Div. 936 has lost 10 guys so far.

Donna...he was still grad n go. But I have seen this many times. The Navy is unable to get the sailors a flight out on Friday so sometimes they fly out on Sat or Sun. I found this out about 5 days before PIR.
Hey Donna, yes, you and I can help each other I suspect. If you have any questions about the Pensacola area, I live only 45 mins. from the base in Alabama. I will be interested about the Washington area too. Weather, etc. Stay in touch.
My son is on Ship 11 but DIV 241. I have yet to find anyone with that same division, but I'll take the same ship! :-) I'm SOOO glad you got the address!! you'll feel better once you start writing to him (I did, anyway). :-) Hope you're having a great day and let me know if you want to chat/vent about anything! :-)
Derek's recruiter told me to call him the day after he left and that he would have his address by then- so I did. And he did. :-) Can you call your son's recruiter?
