Jenn really wanted to become a Raven -- but there a big Good Ole Boy thing going on and they wouldn't get her get the training before she got the chance to do the K9 thing. It's their loss -- she was Sailor of the Year in Diego Garcia.

- Hi Doreen, Just checking in to see how Taylor is doing in the land of sand as my son calls it. I hope he is adjusting well to the heat and the different culture. Michael left there on April 24th and we picked him up April 25th. He reports to San Diego next week for 4 years. I just wanted to stop by and say hi and see how you are doing. Take care, Laura

- Hi Doreen, I'm so glad that you had a good time on your visit to California. We have been to the zoo since our honeymoon 25 years ago. As soon as Michael is settled in down there we will go down and spend a few days with him. Don't know if we will stay on the base or not. Michael took his petty officer exam and if he passes he may be able to live off base.
So is Taylor now in Bahrain? Have you heard from him yet? I hope he is doing well. Michael should be home at the end of April. He is busy getting all of his paperwork ready for his transfer to San Diego. He is going to need a uhual plane to get all of his junk home. They seem to become electronic freaks when they get there because stuff is so cheap.
Is the weather holding up back in Iowa? It has been really beautiful here in California. But we sure could use some more rain. Well hope all is well. Write when you get a chance and let me know whats happening! Take care, Laura

- We recently stayed on the Base on North Island and the accommodations were nice. You have a kitchenette in the room so you can do your own cooking. They have free movie rentals for you also. It is about 6-8 blocks from the gate. I don't know if a taxi can come on the base, but you can get to the get to get into the taxi. They also have a bus line that will go from the base to just about anywhere. My son lives in Imperial Beach, which is about 15-20 minutes away. The price is very cheap for staying in the housing on North Island - $27 a night. You should call ahead to reserve the room. I can't remember all of the information - Gateway something. Have your son check into it. He can also reserve the room for you. If I find the information I will get back to you.have a nice time in San Diego. You or your son can get discount tickets at the family service place on the base.

- Hi Doreen, How are you? Your trip to California must be coming up soon. When are you coming to our beautiful state? You will have to let me know how it goes so I can make plans to see my son when he gets down there. He is finishing up his last mission and is going to take his Petty Office exam this month. Then he just packs his stuff and he should be home anywhere between April 23 and May 22. How is Taylor doing with the big guns in San Diego? Hope all is going well. - Hi Doreen, how are you? How is Taylor enjoying beautiful San Diego? Michael is back in Bahrain now but we are on the count down and soon he will be in San Diego for two whole years. He has to report there by May 22. How is your trip to California coming along? You will have to let me know how your motel turns out. We are thinking that we could just fly down there for the day when Michael finally gets there. We are only an hour flight away. I put up some new pictures of his visit home. The small silver car is his new toy that he bought just 4 days before he left. The rest is family. I love the one of Michael and my daughter Brianna. I don't get to have them together very often. She works for Cold Stone Ice Cream so that is why the picture is taken there. Well I hope all is well with you. Write back when you have time. I always love hearing from you. Laura
