About me:
I am retired from the Defense Contract Management Agency. I have always believed that the military offers young
men and woman an excellent start in their careers. I am very happy my son has signed up, and at thesame time, I must admit some apprehension because I was always for a military career. I hope my son David is doing this for himself and not just for me.
I am here to support or represent my:
David
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud, Was relieved, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
my son knows what he has to do with his life and although scared and worried (my worst qualities) I could never be prouder.

Hi Dorothy, How is David doing. The last I talked to you David had just left for BC. You haven't had much time to hear from him so how are you holding up?

Hi Dorothy, I am glad you found this N4M'S. It really helps me alot. I did not know of it until after Patrick graduated Power School. I think that once David gets out of boot camp. It will be easier for you. Then you can call him alot. Patrick kept his cell phone # he same. So I call him for a local call. That helps. Will David have a hard time with the cold weather at GL? Patrick doesn't seem to complain about the weather in NY. Being they are both from Tucson. I really do not like cold weather. This january has been so nice. We are so lucky to have such nice weather. I will look forward to meeting you at the potluck. I hope the weather stays nice.Keep in touch. See you next Sat.

Dorothy: It's gonna be a very difficult few weeks. I got my first real letter from Cory at about 3 weeks. I was so excited. A lot of moms got weekly letters...not me...Sunday is the only time they have to write, socialize with others or even take a LONG shower. Cory chose to socialize with his buddies rather than write home. Olso he said...there's not that much to tell you! The first 3 weeks appear to be the hardest on the guys in bootcamp too. Cory's first letter said "I'm not gonna lie mom, this really SUCKS!" But then it started getting better. So don't be surrpised if the first letter is a bit negative. Then the packet r/t PIR arrives at about week 4 and you'll be busy making plans. Do remind David to order the pictures and Keel (bootcamp yearbook) if you want them. I had Cory order the whole thing and the cost was about $165.00. They took it out of his pay and then I just put the money back into his account. The pictures are great. 1 11x14, 2 8x10's, 2 5x7's and about 24 wallet size. Keep in touoch and I'll see you next weekend. Julie

Hi Dorothy: Welcome to N4M. This is a terrific site for information and support. My youngest son graduated from bootcamp last July, he's now stationed in Virginia and LOVES it. I'm so proud of him....but it was so hard seeing him go. And, it's hard being home alone....though after 8 months I am getting used it a little at a time. I started writting letters the day after Cory left, it kept me busy. And when I finally got his address I dropped them all in the mail box!! His 1st mail call should've been terrific!! Julie

Hi Dorothy, Welcome to N4M's. This is a wonderful pace to be. I am very happy knowing I always have someone I can relate to. I really missed my son Patrick when he went to boot camp. I deep down know it was the right thing for him to do. But It was hard for me. You will get to know alot of mom's here. There are alot of groups. When did David leave for boot camp? And what is he going to do in the Navy? Keep in touch with me. I am retired. I enjoy spending time on N4m's. God Bless,Have a good day. Laura
