You can send letters of any kind, however, colored envelopes or very large things will invite embarrassment. Definitely no musical cards, they pay a price for them. Pictures are ok, but they don't have much room at all to keep stuff in so it's best…

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
since my son hasn't actually left for boot camp yet, I haven't learned much. I do know it takes a long time for everything to fall in place!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:

Hi Eileen - saw from your post that you were from Florida - so I popped into your page and was surprised to see you are also in St. Augustine! My Sailor just completed A school, and is heading back to GC on Sunday after his 2 week leave 8-(
We have an active "Jacksonville Navy Moms" group if you'd care to join us - we just met this past Saturday and our next outing is planned for September 26th.
Congrats to you and your Recruit... look forward to hearing from you.

I agree re confusing. You may email me if you like at mjwehrer AT msn DOT com. Joey said they have not been allowed to recieve mail yet but "lots is going out" - I imagine his job as "Mail PO" means he has to get it to the mailbox!
The call I got was for his security clearance - he needed names for references and where his dad was born, rtc. THEN I looked thru the answering machine and he had left a message last week too! oops. I always thought he would call my cell, maybe they are restricted what numbers they can call "for business"
I have not received any mail either.
the address I send to is Ship 10 Div 274 USS ENterprise/ Bldg 7115/ Recruit Training Command/ Great Lakes, IL 60088-3127

I liked reading your past post. Letters from boot camp are few and far between. We didn't receive his graduation notice until about 2 weeks prior to graduation. You have never experienced the pride until you see your child arch into the building. I have never been so moved or proud in my whole life. The child you sent to basic will not be the sailor you see at graduation. The pride that they have in themselves is powerful. The first thing the new graduates will want is candy, potatoe chips, and energy drinks. If you want to get a laugh from your sailor ask if they would like some triangle hash browns.
