There is so much outdoor recreation and places to explore, coastal beaches, biking, hiking, kayaking, golfing, fishing, swimming, water sports and boating, snow skiing, and more. Don't know who has been scaring you with stories of snow, (so much fun to go play in!) I'd be more concerned about becoming like the tin man and rusting! LOL) Her tan will probably fade a little. :-) Plan on buying a raincoat and umbrella. Probably a parka too, temps are milder than you are used to, you're going to feel cold until you adjust. :) Seriously, the Eastern side of the State where I am is much more prone to large snow falls. "Seattleites" don't know what to do when an inch or two falls on the ground, they panic and everything, schools etc., shut down. Happens now and then. Takes more than that here. :)
Rain in the foothills and at sea level means great skiing in the mountains, but you have to drive a ways to get up to that! Let me and the group know what specific questions and concerns you have and we'll do our best to answer them and get Ashley as prepared as possible. Some of the other Moms with Naval experience and backgrounds could help you more with housing and specific info about Bremerton, Silverdale, Hood Canal and the rest of the Kitsap peninsula. It's a pretty area, less cosmopolitan and quieter, so housing prices and rent would be a little more reasonable. Plenty of amenities though. Meanwhile here's a couple sites to check out:
