HT is Hull Technician, basically a welder/plumber/Mr. Fix-It. Josh reported the weekend before they got underway, so this is his second time out. He said they were busy when they were out, but he also said they stay busy, underway or in port. I'm ok…
I grew up in PA, but live in NC now. I have 7 children, Josh is our youngest son. He also graduated boot camp in June, but went to HT 'A' School, so he's only been on the ship since mid November.
Just wanted to say "hello". My son joined the crew of the Kearsarge a few weeks ago so I thought I'd join the group.
For family members of sailors serving on the USS Kearsarge stationed in Norfolk, VA
I guess I should have asked, where IS Engineman A School? Is he staying in GL?
Your son will more than likely move over to the "ship" where he will be for school and will wait for his class to form up(my son only had to wait a few days). But he won't just "hang out", they keep them busy until the class forms up.

- Be careful what you volunteer for (LOL). Seriously, there is so much you can learn.
- Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
- It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

- Michele Z: My son Shane PIRed 9-3-09 from BC at GL. He is now in the engineering building #634 awaiting A school to start this tuesday. He is gsm. What's BECC...ATT? Is your son David at GL awaiting gsm A school as well? Are you in Dallas? I'm in Tulsa just up the road. Best to you & yours. hak/holly hope to keep in touch thru snipes group as well.

I know Karol mentioned something about going up too - would be great if we all could go at the same time :) The weekend of PIR was so rushed and I missed a bunch of places too. I think it would just be me going also - kinda hard with the 4 y/o old to run around to all the places. I'll keep you posted :)

I looked back at Michele's photo and found you. I have a feeling I will go back to GL at some point and hopefully hubby will be able to go too. Jeff may or may not be able to come home for the birth of his second baby (girl) on or before July 30, but then we wouldn't see him until he's out of A school in the end of Oct. Thats along time. I hope when he does get stationed it will be west coast. It would be easier on the family. We are all out here. I can't wait for him to get his cell phone. lol Then I hope to find out more about A school. My daughter in law and I sent his phone USPS priority because I was thinking they couldn't receive UPS or Fed Ex. Will have to ask him about that one?
Well, I gardened this morning and did yard work and its now hot so I'm going to cool off and take a shower.

I just realized that Josh & David are both under the "Surface Engineering" category :) David is going to be a GSM. I guess they both will be following the same path initially before they break off to their individual strands (HT, GSM). I've only heard from David via text, but he said they moved across the street? I'm hoping he means the main base :) Did Josh move to the main base? Still no address from him, but that's normal for David...lol...little info :) His cousin is on the Main Base and he held David's phone for him. I guess if I had to ship David's phone & laptop then I would have gotten a call AND address already!!! Keep in touch! I sure miss chatting in our group :( I've joined the Snipes and GL Q&A groups too. Take care, Michele Z

Sorry I did not make Flannigans. I had my one year old grandson and daughter in law with me. My daughter in law is pregnant. I sat on the second from the bottom row on the bleachers in the 227 division, next to the RDC's and special families. My grandson and one other smaller baby were vocal during parts of PIR. You probably heard him. lol My poor daughter in law finally took him down to the bathroom. He was so tired and I swear he felt everyone's emotions. I am short, blond and blue eyed with freckles. lol You probably saw me at some point. I wish we could have worn signs that said Navy for Moms.
Jeff said he wanted a fan and he would call today so we'll probably hear from him. His sister is also very pregnant so we are on baby watch. My life is crazy, but I'm sure with seven you know all about that. I only had two and can't imagine seven. lol
It is so good to have know another HT Mom.
