Hi Ellen sorry I have taken so long to reply, it''s just that with back to work and then watching my 1 and 2 year old grandchildren often after work while my daughter goes to school (5:30 to 10:45) has slowed me way down on the computer.Glad Freddy is doing well and will be home for a visit. Jason has been with the Truman since Aug. 2008 and has been home a few times, he has his car and drives home. Don't know when he will be home again, maybe Thanksgiving. He was home in July and I saw him in VA for the friends and family day in July on the Truman and spent a few days with him. Freddy's job sounds exciting. Jason is an airman and works with the arresting gears. I guess he likes it but it requires very long hours when out at sea, 18 to 20 hours most days; I'm sure he'd like less hours and little more sleep. This will be Jason's first deployment, Freddy's too?? I wonder if our sons know each other. Keep in touch and have a good week.

Hi & no worries! I am just glad their is nothing wrong that it was just your computer :) I have no idea when deployment is this time so I can't answer. I will most likely be there no matter when it is as long as I get more than a days notice. I know B was away on a training mission, where no clue, grrrrrr but oh well he chose this life, and I have to abide by it! If anyone knows anything about when, please pm me or email me at navymombb@yahoo.com. Thanks, have a great week!!

Hi Ellen, welcome to our Truman group. Good luck to Freddie. I hope to be in VA during deployment too, the date has changed 3x already. My son is an airman too. What does your son do? My son is an ABE, right now he works on the arresting gears to help the jets land.

I have not heard from him since the phone call to let me know about the injury. I am worried about him, did not get a letter this week and so far today no phone call. He did say he would write today so I will look forward to that letter. So all I know is he is delayed and has a hairline fracture in center of his foot. I imagine they will put him in a new Division since his Div will be graduating on the 26th.
Hope Freddy is doing well!
Take care, Deb

Hi Ellen,
Rob did not say alot about boot camp, he did say that when I write send lots of news from home. They do not get to see any news, he only knew about Phelps 8 golds because he was in dentist office that day. He said BC is not that tough, long as you remember that it is just meant to toughen ya up and get ya ready for the better life of a sailor. (not his exact words but close)

I had not heard of the Navy Lodge, I will check into it, thanks.

Asked Rob if he knew any of the sons I have read about here, so far (see if memory serves) Josh, Chris, Freddy, and Rob are all in Div 359? Rob responded, "no idea, I only hear last names."

How many in a Division do you know?

Hope you hear more from Freddy soon, take care

Hello Ellen
Hope you are doing well. I know what you are going through I miss my son Chris. He left July 9th, I have only gotten a call from him twice since he been there.. I' am getting ready to go if all goes well on the Battle Stations, which is this wk. I am staying in the Navy Lodge it is much cheaper and closer to the baselike a 1/4 mile. I got a deluxe room w/ 2 queen size bed , frig. etc. for $62.00 I stayiny for 4 days. If you need more information please feel free to ask and I will be more the happ to help. Have a great wkend. ~M~

Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To give my son space and let him grow up... try not to worry all the time about him.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
