Congratulations Ellen! Our Eagle landed the same morning! It is fun to have him home. He says it's not the same, and I would have to agree. It's just nice to transition with him here. His Middle brother came home to live with us in October so we were actually only empty nesters for 3 months. I think I look forward to that again. The boys are planning a movie game night here at our house tonight with a bunch of friends so I need to get to bed to start sleeping before I get caught up in it all. Merry Christmas to you. Oh, before I go...When I asked Tucker about Lee, he told me at first he was thinking of an oriental guy, since they go by their last names in BC and in the military in general. I just thought that was quite funny. Have fun with Lee. When does he have to leave? Merry Christmas again. Terri

Hi Ellen,
Haven't been on in a while. When is Lee coming home for Christmas? Keith chose to come home on Dec.28 to have the most time to spend with other brothers who will be here. He has a new girlfriend and will have Christmas dinner with her family in CT. School is out for me on Friday and then I can really prepare for the busy holidays. Hope all is well with you. Martha

Hi Ellen!
For some reason I thought I had already answered you but now it looks like I didn't! I am sorry! My son (Michael) says the latest is that they probably won't get much leave around Thaknsgiving but will get one of two weeks at Christmas...either the one that includes Christmas or the second one that includes New Year's. We are hoping for Christmas, of course, but I will gladly settle for anything!! : ) How is Lee doing? Michael is doing pretty well, it seems like he is making friends but kind of in a general state of grouchiness lately, I think that is frustration. He said there are some "dumb" guys who do things to get in trouble and they all get punished , just like boot camp! Other than that, he is doing well....fill me in on your news! : )Mary

Hi Ellen,
My son is Keith Huthmacher. He left for Boot Camp last March. He got a stress fracture in his hip the last week of Boot Camp. He had to have surgery and spend his recuperation at Boot Camp!!! The poor kid was there for 5 months and we only had Boot Camp communication! Anyway, that is why he didn not get to have a PIR. As soon as he was medically cleared, he joined the group for Battlestations and passed. Next day he had orders and then he went to Groton. It is So very nice to have him in Groton with a cell phone and laptop. It will be nice to keep in touch with you and maybe even meet? Martha

Hi Ellen ! So glad you wrote. I have been trying to figure out if there is anybody nearby. My friend has a son in the Marines and she goes to Blue Star Mothers meetings. I was hoping to find some support like she gets. I'm pretty new to this Navy4Moms. My husband would love to be our "official" SoCal photographer at the graduation. We are very excited for our son since he was unable to attend his PIR. Do you have the class photo from Groton? Our son Keith is the first sailor on the top row on the left. Let me know if there is anything my husband could take to Groton for you. Martha P.S. my e-mail is mhuthmacher@ca.rr.com

Hey Ellen! Somehow I thought I had answed you and I hadn't or it didn't go through! I am sorry! Has Lee gotten any new roomates yet? Do you know what BESS class he is in? I can't remember what my son's is, I will have to look it up. He said that is just about all he sees, is guys from his class! Sounds he starts school "for real" tomorrow and is excited about that. How are you & your son doing?

Ellen...My son's name is Michael Hollinhead. He is the oldest of our five kiddos and I have homeschooled since he was in 5th grade. I don't think I am reaally very patient, probably my kids wish they were at school, LOL ! Seriously, we have fun with it. I think it has made us very close family, his siblings has felt his absence very intensely, they are hurting for missing him. But I would rather have it that way than have them not care! I know what you mean about the adjustment to this new phase, we had a rocky start when Michael first moved from boot camp to school, but now I am relieved to see him settling in, and I think he even seems more like "himself" now than he did at PIR..I think some of the intense stress is wearing off, they are catching up on missed sleep...all good things. And you gotta love all the phone calls, right!??!! : )

Hi Ellen - I've been out of town and just getting back to my Navy mom life (ha). I'll send you an email on the shipping stuff. The first time we shipped WAS a nightmare. The second time was easier. More to come.
