Give me understanding that I may know, when duty calls them they must go. Give me a task to do each day, to fill my thoughts when they're away. And Lord, when they're in a foreign land, keep them safe in your loving hand. And Lord, when duty is in the field, please protect them and be their shield. And Lord, when deployment is so long, please give me the support to remain strong. ~Amen~

It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Freedom's Call

They are called to be in uniform,To serve both day and night, Protecting our great country, To fight the valiant fight, To rescue us from danger, At home-across the sea, Brave and special people, Who keep our nation free. And together on a mission, Our heroes, they are there, Every color-every creed, With freedom's light to share, And day by day-step by step, All for one and one for all, Our heroes stand together strong, To answer freedom's call. http://www.navyformoms.com/video/hold-fastmilitary

We Must Never Forget,,

We must never forget who gets the credit for the freedom we have, of which we should be eternally grateful. I watched the flag pass by one day, it fluttered in the breeze. A young sailor saluted it, and then stood at ease. I looked at him in uniform; so young, so tall, so proud, with hair cut square and eyes alert he'd stand out in the crowd. I thought how many men like him had fallen through the years. How many died on foreign soil; how many mothers' tears? How many pilots planes shot down? How… Continue

Give Us Lord,,

Give us, Lord, a bit o' sun, A bit o' work and a bit o' fun; Give us in all the struggle and sputter, Our daily bread and a bit o' butter. Give us health, Our keep to make, An' a bit to spare for others' sake. Give us, too, a bit of song, And a tale, and a book to help us along. Give us, Lord, a chance to be our goodly best, brave, wise and free, Our goodly best for ourself and others, till all men learn to live as brothers.

Come Home

Hello world, hope you're listening, forgive me if I'm young for speaking out of turn. There's someone I've been missing. I think they could be the better half of me. They're in the wrong place trying to make it right, but I'm tired of justifying so I say You'll Come Home, Come Home, cause I've been waiting for you for so long, for so long, and right now there's a war between the vanities but all I see is you and me. The fight for you is all I've ever know. So Come home. I get lost in the beauty… Continue

Soul of a Sailor

He walked in with a salty sway, Lookin' like Blackbeard in his day, A brother in arms just like me, I was born a son of the sea, I can't be still, I can't be tied, The only time I feel alive is, When the wind fills my sail, Riding on a lifelong swell, Let my heart take me where it wants to go, That's the heart of a sailor, the heart of a sailor. He slid a stool and a beer to me, Said, you know, we're a dying breed, Here's to love lost and new found friends, And living our life in the boat we're… Continue

Dear earlzagurl,
How are you doing? See, we do have a Navy conection here!! HAHAA!!
I'm so glad to hear everything is fine with Philip. Too bad you couldn't see him though, when he returned. Before you know it Christmas will be here. We're finally up to September...HOORAY!! Now it should start cooling off.

I hope Philip's wife is better. A few years ago, I had appenditis, I saw stars with that pain!!!

I'm up to a hearing aide for my left ear. I'm doing good with it.
I have a loner hearing aide for my right ear, just to keep the nerve stimulated. The audiologist told me, if there's no improvement with my right ear after a month with the hearing aide, she'll approve me for the surgery Cochlear Implant. So this year things are coming along good for me.

How have you been, health wise?
I hope all is well.

Kim was here last week. Her ship passed an inspection, so the Sailors got time off. The poor kids, busted their butts off for weeks, doing 15 hour shifts, 7 days straight, for this inspection.
SHe looked great, gain some weight! Oh well!!

That's about it for my update. Please don't be a stranger.
Take care and God bless,
Your friend,
Barbara

Dear earlzagurl,
Hey my long lost firend, how are you? I hope an pray you get over that bronchitis!

Other than keeling over from the heat, I'm doing good. I can't wait until it's Fall!! HAH! I am so not a summer person.!!

Kim surprised me with writting me e-mails. I am so thrilled. I wrote to her, I hope she keeps this up. I hate struggling on the phone. My good ear that I have always struggled with on the phone, died. completely gone, must be two months now.

Not only that, I never know what to say on the phone. With the e-mails, I'm telling her everything that's going on! HAHA! Her ship is finally doing 5 day test run cruises. Good thing, .....the first cruise had 4 fires on board.

Today she wrote, that her and a friend are going to an amusemnet park and maybe a movie later. I'm so thankful she made friends. At home she was a hermit, just reading books.

I do lovely things like that. I almost put the cereal in the refridge, skillets in the fridge. Plates in the oven! The usual! HAHA!!

How wonderful, your son and his family coming home and on you birhtday!!! I know you're on cloud 9, how wonderful!! That's the best gift ever!! I'm so happy for you!! DId he say how long he can stay for?

I know, us moms take the back seat, when it comes to our children, who they call first!! HAHA!

I have (hopefully will be) exciting news. I have a new ENT doctor and he has me being evaluated for a cochlear implant, it's a hearing device. I did research on it, and joined another website called the Cochlear Community. The members are all deaf and have had this surgery. I even have about 4 women I write to, that have the Meniere's Disease.
I'm told it'll be months before I find out if I qualify for this surgery or not.

I'll let you get going. Have a (early) HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Please don't be a stranger!
Take care and God bless.
Your friend,
Barbara

Dear earlzagurl,
Well hello long lost friend, how have you been? I'm doing well.
That video of your son reading a baby book , I know was priceless!! HAHA!!
Kim was here last weekned. Again it took her 11 hours for a 7 car car ride.

I heard something of an accident, if it's the same story. WHat happened on the ship?

How wonderful about your daughter in law and grandbaby spending time with you! I know you enjoyed their visit.

Please don't be a stranger. Have a wonderful and blessed Mother's Day.
Take care and God bless,
Your friend,

It seems like forever since we have talked! Man you have really got your page loaded! You are very talented with poetry! You have a great way of expressing your feelings. It's a joy reading them.

So other than missing your Sailor, what else is going on? For me I planned a VAmeet and greetand no one showed. But everyone was real sorry and want to get together again. I think I will let us rest for a month and try again.

You and Flip are in our prayers, and when I light my blue candle,he is mentioned as one of the sailors we "know" and cherish.
God Bless,
T

Hi, I haven't been on N4M's for a month or so, I apologize for not responding sooner. Everything is pretty good on the "Sailor" front. Derek is doing very well, recently went through a supervisor training course and will take the PO1st class test in Sept. It's doubtful that he will get promoted on the first time around but I can always hope! His roommate is also out on the Stennis, a good guy, AE2, great big bald guy from Austin, TX. I'm planning on going on the Tiger cruise this year on the Reagan, I'm so excited! Where are you in KY? We go to Ft. Mitchell near Cincinnati every few years for a convention. It's beautiful there but I can't handle the humidity. I'm up in the Pac. NW corner of the world.
