Fina: DEP stands for Delayed Entry Program. I believe the group is called "Depper's....In but not yet". There are also several recruiters who are members of this site and someone called Hoppi who is a Navy Career Counselor. If you go to the members page and type in the name "Hoppi" she should come up. She is a world of information.

I do want to tell you, my son has been in a year. He left for bootcamp about 6 months after he joined. When he told me he was going into the Navy that December it felt to me like May was such a long time away. It went too fast. Things I thought we would do together I didn't make time for. When he would ask me to sit and watch a TV program I was often too busy with something else. I wish so much I could have that time back and do it all over agin. THIS time I would stop whatever I'm doing and sit to watch TV with him. I would take a day off work and go hiking with him. I would make time to go to the car show with him. But Fina, I won't get a second chance to do it right. Take the time now, spend as much of it as you can with him. Make some memories for both of you! God Bless....and you're gonna be fine! It's certainly an adventure to watch them grow from boys to men. The Navy was a great decision for my son, he's happy and doing well. Even took some college classes last semester!

Fina: Hello and welcome to Navy for Moms. This is a terrific site for support and information. So glad you found us! Also, THANK YOU for joining in the Recruiter Recognition card party. I see your son is waiting to leave for bootcamp. There is a DEP group if you care to look into it. When does he leave?

Hi Fina, welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley, has been in the Navy since July 2007 and is an IT. What will your son/daughter be doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your recruit. Pat
