Great ideas! We will be meeting somewhere in Seattle for sure in September... Also there are moms from Arizona, Florida and Oregon heading our way in September. Some are coming for the 3 day walk for breast cancer and some are coming to cheer them on!

Sorry to hear that your sailor has hit a road block... remind him that even if he had been able to join he probably would have been on hold before leaving for boot camp. My son waited about nine months before his rate had openings...

Thanks for the comment about my 'picture'... it is a favorite from PIR! Can you tell that I was the first one across the floor to grab my sailor? I was so proud of him and sure did not want to let go!

Great that you have joined the WA/OR moms group! The Western WA moms do meet for brunch or lunch once a month. We have met in Lynnwood, Seattle, Tacoma and Puyallup... try to move the location from North to South so that it makes it convenient for all! We should be posting in the next week or so where we will meet next... any suggestions???

Well to tell you the truth even if there are jobs available he will probably have to wait. I had to wait 8.5 months and a lot of people signing up now are having to wait up to a whole year! But Navy likes to get people going as fast as possible so it's possible he could ship sooner even if he is scheduled to leave a long time from now sometimes they will ship you out early. But not often.

Even if he doesn't ship for a year tell him to be happy with that. Because a lot of people are finding it hard to get into the Navy so I've been told by my recruiter to just be happy I have a ship date but I leave in less than 2 months now.

Welcome aboard!!

We are so glad that you are here! This is a great place to meet others that know exactly how you feel!
We have something for everyone here groups from boot camp moms to overseas moms and moms that like to scrap book. We have meet and greets to events that the moms set up to meet each other and have dinner or an outing. There are groups to help you with each and every step of this wonderful adventure that our children have chosen called the US Navy.

Please tell us about your sailor and what they have chosen to do in the navy and ohh yeah we LOVE pictures of everyone !!

Please let me know if you have any questions I can help you with.

Hi, welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy for 2 years and is an IT3 & my future son-in-law Tim has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz. What will your son be doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your recruit. Pat
