Good Morning everyone! What is it with the mail situation on the ship? Does anyone know exactly how it works and why things seem to be so slow? I sent a package to Sarah and it came back with the note "No one here by that name." Ha! Sometimes she wi…

My son is currently on hold for ET. He says there are around 900 people ahead of him even though he is finished with ATT. Is he going to sit around and wait for the next 10 months at Great Lakes? What else can they do? Are there things they can volu…

Moms -- We will be sending them off toward you in less than 2 hours. I've enjoyed my time with Sarah here, but still wish I could be in SD for homecoming. I've told her to look for pink balloons and feathers. (She thinks I 'm nuts!) Aloha!

What is your daughter doing in the Navy? My daughter has a PIR of 12/5 and will be staying at GL for DC - Damage Control. I do some quilting, but obviously nothing like you do - I can see the machine in the picture!! Do you quilt for others....as in they send you the quilt top, backing and batting and you do the rest...or???

Dear Fidelis,
I'm trying to remember where I read the intials, I think there was something on the homepage. I fooled around with that, Now you have me wondering, I did look it up myself, when I first started writing to other moms. I'm still learning myself. I know alittle, only because I used to be in a Military children's organization, a few years back.
Three things to remember for graduation day 1) photo ID
2) get there early, there's a long line for security check 3) be prepared to write a check for Sarah's professional photos. She'll be picking them up after graduation. We didn't know about that, fortunatly my husband had enough money in the checking account.
Okay, your down for the count now, have you been in contact with other moms that have the same graduating day ? If not, look on the homepage for a group, either for the same date or the group that is Sarah's Division and Ship. You need all the support from one another now.
Sarah's graduation date you said is July 18. Usually, the final test is on the week of the expected graduation date. It's called Battle station, it's an all night test on emergency situations. Once the recruit passes Battle station, they graduate. If not, they graduation will be delayed. As late as Thursday, Sarah will call you to tell you if she graduates on time or not.
This is the nerve wracking week now, that's why I suggest about keeping in contact with the moms going through the same week as you. Our daughters are stronger then we think, Sarah will do fine and pass, but don't stop prayers. I pray every night for Kim.
Also, bring a white towel for Sarah to sit on, her uniform is all white.
I'll let you get going. Please keep in touch. Like I said, this Navy Moms is such a blessing. Other moms helped me through the final week.
Take care and God Bless.

So, enjoy your time here and I'm looking forward (along with the community) to reading more about you. :D

Thanks to all for the welcome.
My daughter's PIR in 7/18. I've just been making hotel reservations and getting frustrated in the process. The brochure rates do say "starting at" so I should not be surprised at the rates actually charged. My daughter would like to see her dog, however, and finding a place for him to stay is difficult. Do any of you have any experience with animals and hotels?
