I do so appreciate reading the words I desperately need to hear. I have been struggling with my "loss" as it feels since he graduated from boot camp in April. I recognize it is my problem to deal with as he is doing exactly what he is suppose to. I…

My daughter volunteered for Pebble Beach last year too. She had a good time, btw she doesn't golf either. I had almost forgotten about the cleaning. She used to do that all the time before she started class.

Day 15 - August 28th, 2008 - Pictures are making me Cry!

I find this journey amazing and ever changing. The love of your child is compared to nothing. And how we take for granite the co-habitation we share with our children as they are growing up. I think to myself how many times I passed up opportunities to share a moment with my child because I was "busy". Busy with dinner, busy with housework, busy with my job, busy with a friend, just busy busy busy. Don't get me wrong I've spend countless moments with my children and have given them a foundation… Continue

Day 14 - August 27th, 2008 - Daughter went back to school today

That was the big deal today but she's in 10th grade so really it was no big deal. Busy day at work so not much time to dwell on the activities of my son. My daughters day was good although her best is in the hospital for an infection she got in her ear from a piercing. She has three antibiotics hooked up to her veins and will be in there for 4-5 days. Not good but they are optimistic it will clear up. Darn those teenagers wanted industrial bars in their ear cartridge!!

Day 13 - Tuesday August 26th, 2008 - Another Call and Great News and Husband concerns

Well I'm so over the GF getting the call. I was running late to work today thank God. I received a call from Gary at 7:45am on our home number. I couldn't believe it. He still needed information for his security stuff. I was so happy. (Still needing me) The best part is he got to tell me he has been selected to be the RCPO. He was cute though he pronounced it "R Poc or something like that, it means I am in charge of our division. If I do a good job I'll get to march in the front of our division… Continue

Day 11 - August 25th, 2008 - Girlfriend got the call

We'll last night I get a call from Adelle (GF). She was crying and said Gary just called her. Of course my first reaction was mortified. I thought to myself how dare he call her and not me! Thank goodness we were on the phone, she probably would have saw it in my face. She said he called about 5 minutes ago and only had a few minutes to talk. I asked if he sounded healthy or sick and she said healthy. He sounded just like always except she could tell he was trying not to cry (ahhh, bet he wouldn… Continue

Day 10 - August 24th, 2008 - Hard Day - Missing Him Bad

This has not been such a good day for me. I was feeling so great on Friday when I got his call and today I can't stop crying. I started packing up his things Friday evening because I was so upbeat and continued a little bit Saturday and today. I think I'm having a selfish day, no I know I'm having a selfish day. They don't lie when they tell you as a new mom, cherish those baby moments they go by fast. Fast is an understatement. I just miss my boy. I didn't realize how much his conversation mean… Continue

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Matt is here and we're loving it! He will be here until Jan. 4. A couple of weeks after that, he will be going to California to study with the Seabees. We're excited for him. He didn't get to finish being a corpsman because he just couldn't pass one of his tests, so he now has new orders. How are you doing and your son?

I just talked to my son a few hours ago and this is exactly what he said - he used the term OPSEC as well. We all need to be careful. If you look at our pages, we have all shared who we are, who our kids are, where we live, etc. Maybe too much already

Hi Susie, Thank you very much. I do love taking pictures and take a lot of pictures to get a few good ones. Well, I made it through the 8 weeks of boot camp and now that we're back to talking and emailing it's almost like the separation never happened. Didn't you love their PIR? It was the best experience. Stephanie was originally supposed to go to San Antonio for Master at Arms training but they sent her to Virginia Beach last Wednesday. She is now in holding for 6 weeks and basically does nothing until her classes start. She said she may only be home for 4 days and will probably fly in on Christmas Day. Grrrrrrr. Your son is a cutie. Has he ever been to California before? It will be a nice place to visit him if you can. Don't you just love this site? I feel like I have made so many new friends from all over the country. Thanks for writing!
