Homesickness happens,. I think the only way through it is to just go through it. If you cave and go visit, it more or less starts all over again. I remember being homesick in college but it passed after a week or so and frequent calls home. I've nev…

If you google "fouled anchor jewelry" you'll find many places that sell them. There are a great many styles to choose from in all price ranges. Gold is pretty expensive now, but silver is still reasonable.

Hi Gayle. My daughter waited 11 months to go into the nuke program too. She graduated from bootcamp 3/20 and headed to Charleston for A school, ready to start 4/6. Unbelievably, once she got there, they did all kinds of inbriefing prior to classes beginning, and somehow flagged her during a psych eval they all did. She's been removed from the program for anxiety. There have been serious budget cuts since Obama came in, and this pre-school screening is now part of the process. It would make much more sense to do this during recruiting than at A school. My daughter has spent a week being extremely angry, but it seems she is starting to come around and see beyond her disappointment now. I'd encourage your daughter to ask her recruiter about this, and make sure this won't happen to her there. The program is extremely demanding and stressful. Best of luck to your daughter!!

She finished hell week Friday and she passed everything first time and they have "disney" week this week, they do alot of fun experiences she said, but I wouldnt like them..she is prob right, hahaha. We got 15 inches of snow monday night thru this noon. Real heavy and wet. We had alot of rain with it but at least it is not 30 below!! I am so ready for spring I was shoveling and it is just to heavy. Hope the sun is warm tomorrow so it melts more than I have to shovel. How is Emily doing?

Gayle, it was a huge stretch money-wise, but I figured I'll only turn 50 once! And, it's on my shoulder, so it will be easy to keep covered when I need to.

Gayle, Congradulations to Emily!! How wonderful..Kirsten only had two months as a depper. I know she will love the Navy. Tell her to keep up the great job and you will be one proud MaMa!! We love our sailor daughters and you will find alot of support here too. We have over six inches of snow and northern MN has over a ft...I am so glad Spring is around the corner..albeit a BIG one. hahaha

Hi Gayle, My friends Pastor Smith and their son Paul lived in Kenora years ago, they were very fond of that place. We are having our blizzard, its like a typical snow but the wind is picking up and it will be getting bad I am sure. We only have 8 degrees. It is suppose to be 30 to 40 below with wind chill this evening and tomorrow morning. Winter!!!

Hi Gayle, Loved your pics as well. Beautiful horse and cogies! Your daughter is beautiful, I hope she will like the Navy as much as my daughter does. She is so glad she joined. She is in Fl for aircrew, she was selected for flight engineer. She is very excited for that. She wanted the helicopter but her eyesight eliminated that so she said this is the next best thing. A school is slow because of shortage on instructors but she is hoping to start by April at least that is the start date currently. We are getting the freezing rain now..school closed to get students home and northern MN already has had snow for several hours already. I am so ready for Spring and the green grass. What is the weather like in Onterio? Hope you have a great day! Patricia

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
That with the economy as it is, Emily can still get a degree on the Navy's dime....and that she can go as high as she is able in the Navy. She'll have job security and a sense of pride in her career
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
