Lorelai - it was so sad - my son would have been humilitated! The feeling though when I saw him was as if he were related - wd have hugged him - not let go and cry but think I wd have been arrested!!!! lol How needy am I today?

FYI - Southwest has a military rate - sometimes way cheaper than reg fares and you can book up to one day in advance. When you check fares you will see on bottom a military phone number that you call - one time they held for me for 3 days because ...

FYI - My son did not have 2-3 hr check ins. Going to airport couldbe 2-3 hrs depending on time of day, weather etc. If they are in uniform they get primo service - my son along with his classmates have been whisked through security many times over...

- Gloria, how does that work if there is no Naval base near me? The closest one is Jacksonville (about 4 hours away).
