Hi everyone! I don't know if this has been asked a million times or not, I went back several pages and didn't see anything, so if it has, I apologize. We're just getting ready to move to Mayport, in about 5-6 weeks or so. We've both lived in FL but…

For Navy families that have a son or daughter serving the military as an FC or an ET on ships. For subs - look for the SECF group. Our chance to share and learn more about their jobs and schools.

Yes, we are proud of him. He was honor grad for his class - spy radar. Dahlgren not so much there - probably better for your hubby since you are with him!!! Our son is single so not as much fun! LOL Sounds like you were not far behind him, Nick left GL in Jan 09 but just graduated from Dahlgren on July 31st. I've heard good things about The Sullivans - I believe their ombudsman is a member on this site and I think they have a group for the ship set up already that you may want to join.

Okay now - if you are getting ready to move from Dahlgren...that must mean your hubby is an Aegis FC?? See...I'm getting pretty good at this! LOL Actually our son graduated from Dahlgren about six weeks ago and has reported to his first ship in Hawaii. Has your hubby received orders to a ship? How nice that you will be moving close to your family. Please let me know if you have any questions. ohhh, my hubby was an FC for 10 years and now our son...same job!

About me:
At the moment, we are getting ready to move from Dahlgren to Mayport at the end of October/early November. This will be our second, and my third, full-fledged military move, all in just over a year. We're looking forward to being settled for a few years, being close to my family, especially with deployment on the horizon, and that I will finally be able to go back to school to become a teacher.

My husband, Jimmy, graduated from RTC June 13, 2008, from Ship 05 Div 218. It was one of my happiest and proudest moments. He also served in the Army Reserve from 1998-2003-or-4 (I think those are the correct dates, it was before I met him). We left GL in February 2009, and are almost on to Mayport-October/November 2009. He will also become FC3 on September 18.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I need to always be supportive of my husband, and I am. That you need to be 110% committed, to your husband, and your lifestyle, because no matter who is enlisted, you are both serving, or it's not going to work. And that the Navy goes by the Navy's schedule. Hurry up and wait.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
