Profile Information

About me:
I am a working Mom--I am a doctor in practice in Cleveland, which means that basically I have no very little free time. I frequently tell others that "I have no life"--although there is some truth to that I also have some passions--I love to take pictures of the birds in my backyard, love to travel (just got back from Vegas and no I didn't win), and love to downhill ski. Besides having a sailor son--I also have a daughter who is a junior in college majoring in chemistry, 2 black standard poodles, and a husband. My husband is actively involved in community theater in the area--both acting and directing--so cheering him on also takes up lots of my time. Meanwhile, I am trying to figure out how to get my younger poodle to act like a civilized dog instead of a uncontrolled banshee.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
The Navy is an incredible organization with lots of opportunities.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi Helen, I'm from northwest Ohio. My son left for BC June 29th. He went to college before enlisting, but I think not knowing how he is, what he's doing, etc., has me missing him more. I'm waiting anxiously to receive a letter from him and have already started writing him. Not knowing where to send it yet, his PIR date, ship or division; so hoping I'll find out something soon.

Hello Helen. Just noticed the site you started on the Corry page and saw your son's rate is CTN. By now he probably has nearly a year under his belt of being out and working in the field so to speak. My son is at Corry as a CTN and is waiting to class up. If you have any words of wisdom or thoughts to share with me I'd love to hear them!

We went for over 2 weeks without hearing from him last month. We finially emailed several of his friends, both from home and one we knew on base. He called the next day! He said he was just really busy (he's taking a class right now). Now it's been almost 2 weeks again (we usually tallk once a week). I'm getting ready to bug him and then friends again!
I think they are at that age where they know they are okay, so we must know it too! Very frustrating!!
Good Luck and let me know!

There is light at the end of the tunnel. I hope he's doing well. He will deserve that two weeks off and will probably appreciate it very much. It goes by so fast though.
