Profile Information

About me:
I am Brazilian and American. My husband is an Air-force vet. Our son joined the Navy in the beginning of 2008.
I am here to support or represent my:
Nathan
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted, Overseas
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was confused, Needed to learn more about it, Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
The best way to cope is to support him and pray for him, because he needs to know that his family is supportive. Being a N4M member also helps a lot. My belief in God and His plan for Nathan's life also helps to keep everything in perspective.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

HEEEEELP!!! MY DAUGHTER IS ABOUT TO JOIN THE AIR FORCE!!!!!

OK, moms, I need help. I am used to looking for help regarding Navy issues because my son is in the Navy. Now, my last child, the youngest of them all (three of them, and my oldest daughter is married), and THE ONE WHO IS GOING TO LEAVE THE NEST EMPTY, wants to join the Air Force, and I have no clue how I should help her make the right choices. She needed only a Math class to get her AA degree, and the Recruiter said she would go in as an E-3. However, she has no clue what kind of job she would… Continue

About to reach 9,000... and about to LOSE Catherine, the n4m admin.?!?!?!?!

I was hoping Catherine would stay with us until our sons and daughters retire from the Navy... It never crossed my mind that she would leave, let alone before we reach ten thousand. She will not even wait until December 31st!
I know this is selfish, and the truth is, Catherine deserves the best!
Full speed ahead, Catherine! Follow your dreams!, We will remember you when we reach 9,000 and 10,000, and beyond... (we may reach 9,000 tomorrow, your last day. If we do, that's a tribute to you.)

Happy Thanksgiving. How is your sailor doing? Are you finish with school? Have you had a chance to look at the 2010 Calendar? Please let me know if you have any suggestions that we should incorporate. I know from reading the earlier posts on our comment wall that you had done a great deal to get the group going and set a welcoming tone. It has turned out to be a great group with very supportive members. I know many of the newer members (new as of this year like me) who joined after you started back at school are looking forward to getting to know you better.
Regards, Bea

Dear Heloisa,
I had sent a couple of suggestions to Elle on making a group's page (for any group) more efficient. She thought they were good ideas and suggested adding me as the Admin for Northern California Navy Moms Group. This is strictly temporary. There will be no changes to the appearance, name or starter of the group. I don't intend to moderate comments. You are the only one who should do that since you are the starter (by default moderator).
I would be creating a category "OUR EVENTS" to put the 1) master calendar of meet & greets for next year 2) Summary of the Events with links to RSVP and 3) guideline to organizing/hosting an event and 4) Protocol if a recruiter or other Navy personnel comes as guest (s) - Jody G provided me with some guidelines.
Since your response to my inquiry about the word change on the group's page, I had sent you a number of messages, include a friend request but I had not heard from you. Someone had mentioned they you were going back to school and was extremely busy. When you are done and would like resume being the admin, I will be pleased to step back.
When my son started in the Navy, N4M did not exist. I just did the best I could by myself. After I joined N4M and discovered the North Calif group, I realized there were many going through what I had gone through. Because of the way things are set up, there are no notifications going to a new member about each of the groups. I went on an individual campaign to search out N4M members who were unaware of the North Calif group and to send invitations to join the group. I started that in August. Since then, we have had an increase of 80 members from 110 to 190. My business has been slow this year, so I have time to help out. Next year, I hope the economy improves and I am signing up to get my RE Broker's license next year and will be less active anyway.
Regards, Bea.

Oh gosh, I feel badly that I did not respond. Things have been a bit busy. I had a cold, then training for my church work. The M&G was very nice. She worked very hard - and had quite a wonderful display of food. Lots of folks from all over. Hopefully in the future we can get together. How are things for you?

WEll, congratulations on ya'lls decision! Jorge has been back 3 times without me- to Sete Lagoas, Maraba, Belo Horizonte, Rio and Sapucaia. WE live in a small town and both had good jobs ten years ago, but now he drives 3 1/2 hrs to Beaumont to work and I havn't had work in 2 yrs. If it was within our means, I would be going with him to Brazil each time! But we do have some land here and I raise Appaloosas - my dream, so.. there is some trade off! Jorge just said he's gonna do that too - stay there 6 months. LOL

I just visited with my brother who was in for 20 years. If Nathan does stay, he can expect great benefits and life-long privileges. I listen to my brother telling me everything he qualifies for, gets discounts, etc. and I am AMAZED!!!

There is nothing like a call from the ship. Patrick is stationed in Yokosuka, but just left Malaysia. My friend Millye has a daughter on the GW. I believe she's a meteorologist. Her daughter was in A school with Patrick in GL summer 08.

Good luck on your tests, you've probably passed them by now with flying colors. Mine is loving his ship - has an admiral aboard. Everything has to be tip top, if ya know what I mean. I know you're proud of Nathan, maybe its too crowded cuz he's tall! LOL Patrick's 6'4" and he hasn't said anything about that, just that he is in his work space, goes to eat and goes back to work, He says no time to stroll the deck saying hi to people and such.

Hi back: WOW! You have been busy. I hope that everybody is okay now. What type of surgery? Mine had three stints put into his heart over a year ago. It sure puts a new perspective on things. The M&G was wonderful - small an dsimple. Gave us lots of time to visit which was awesome. Maybe next time. I do think that I am a bit too far north east for everyone. I'm going to try to work with the local recruiter's to let them know about us. Are you going to Bea's on the 25th?
