Dear Holls,
How are you doing today? How was your holiday?
It was just the four of us. My husband helped cook, then I got abandoned for cleanup! UGH!

That was so nice, Devin called you up. How is he doing?

So when did he graduate?
A belated congratulaions!!!
Where is now for A School?

My Kim is still docked!! UGH! She said maybe next month the ship might pull out for a week.

Let me get going. Please stay in touch.

Take care and God bess,
Barbara

My biggest piece of advise is to put it in the Lord's hands. Someone posted that they would place their troubles at the cross, and sneak back and pick them up again---so they finally had to imagine that they super-glued them there. I liked that thought.
I felt so empty when I "lost" my mom title. My first four weeks were spent staring at the walls whenever I was home. Then, the countdown to PIR began, and it seemed real again, knowing I would see my sailor soon.

Andy said boot camp was ok--he did get the ricky crud and pink eye a couple of times. And, the boots were not as supportive as the ones he was used too. So, the recruits are exhausted, but he said they laughed every night until lights out.

Letters get passed around, and we learned of one recruit who was not getting mail. We private messaged those in his ship/div and made sure that recruit got mail. I got a big old hug from him at PIR, which was wonderful. So, keep on writing and it keeps you busy. I cut out comic strips, went to google and sent him "mushy moment song lyrics" and we printed off pictures like crazy.

Keep in touch and let me know what you need.

Holly,
It was nice to hear back from you. So Devin is leaving Wednesday? Just spend some time with him now, that's what we are also trying to do. We are also having a dinner for him and all our extended family that we don't see a whole lot. My husband did have a great idea, we've purchased a pack of 50 cards/envelopes and are going to have them at the dinner we are having for him. We are asking everyone to take one and write him a letter of encouragement or anything that they want to and then we are going to randomly mail them to him in between the ones that we send to him. I thought it was a pretty great idea and a way to make everyone feel a real part of the day too. Good luck to you and Devin and I will hopefully hear from you again soon, looks like we both have a new sailor and we could be going through this together. Take care, I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers,
Lisa

Dear Holly,
How are you doing? This Navy for moms is such a blessing.

Relax, Devin will be fine and in good hands with the Navy. Once he gets into the rountine of Boot Camp, and over being homesick, he will enjoy Boot Camp.
All the recruits do, believe it or not!

Boot Camp is not as horrible as us moms picture it. I have heard many moms say their children loved Boot Camp, including my daughter Kim. It does take a few weeks for them to adjust to it.

It's the moms having the nervous breakdowns!! HAHA!!

The best thing for you to do is to stay in contact with other Navy moms. We know what your expericeing, we've been through it.
There is also groups you can join, and I'm always around. Together, we'll help you through Boot Camp....we haven't lost a mom yet!! HAHA!!

Are you having a fare well dinner for Devin?

Dont' be too concern about what he needs to bring. Other than personal hygiene things, like deordant, shampoo, shaving products, the Navy supplies everything else.

Please don't hestitate to write. We're all a Military family now.
Try to calm down and take a deep breath. Devin will be fine !!

I hope to hear from you again.
Take care and God bless.

Hi and Welcome to N4M. We are proud to have you aboard. Please look on the Events For Blue Candle Lighting. We are lighting blue candles on Christmas day to remember our sons, daughters and spouses who will not be home for the holidays. Some of our children will be home but we wanted to make sure we remember the ones on duty and their families. Please RSVP as if your are attending because it counts. All you have to do is light a blue candle in your home on Christmas day and you will have participated. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
