- About me:
- I'm just a Mom out here in The O.C. adjusting to my "empty nest" and always concerned with the safety of my son. But the Navy is continuing to be a good thing for him (and continuing to be a test for me), hoping that it is supplying our son with those lessons he can only learn on his own and in his own way. We are very proud of him!

- Was concerned or afraid
- From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
- I learned that my son is beginning to make a good life for himself and is being challenged to become a "Man with a Purpose". He is the only one of his friends and acquaintances actually doing something of value with his life, and now has a solid direction on which to focus. I love those CORE values. They are exactly what he needs to experience on a daily basis.
UPDATE: He completed his classes (as of 3/24/09) and graduated with Honors, ranked third in his class ! He is based in Norfolk, Virginia on the USS McFaul. He is excited with his new life and is enjoying being on his own. He is still in the process of maturing, but we have great hopes for him and his life ahead.
- Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
- It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
