Suggestion: If you live close to the recruiters station it might be helpful to go see them and ask them to explain the waiting times for promotion. Also I think you can find them online. I'll see if I can find it.

I don't think their rank has anything to do with C school. A school teaches them all the basics of the electrical and C school teaches them how it applies to the exact aircraft they will be working on. He is E-1(Seaman recruit/SR) for a certain amount of time and then automatically will be promoted to E-2(Seaman Apprentice/SA) and then E-3(Seaman or Airman/ SN or AN), (that's what all those letters mean) then they have to start taking a test to promote to Petty Officer 3rd Class. They have to pass the test and then it depends on what percentage of test takers the Navy is promoting at the time. AE is a tough field. Sometimes they only promote maybe 3% of all the sailors taking the test (out of the whole Navy). Each time they pass the test that adds points to their record. My son took the 3rd class test twice before being promoted and twice before making 2nd class. They have to wait a specific amount of time between the next test also. He wasn't able to take the 1st class test for a year and a half after making 2nd class. He will take it this September and chances are slim that he will be promoted the first time even if he passes the test. I hope this answered some questions. After a while you'll learn to speak their "language" and understand things like you've known them all your life!

Hi Ivi, I'll have to ask my son how long C school was, it's been 5+ years since he did that. It's not really that long, maybe a month? Not sure. I'll let you know.

Good Morning Ivi, I am glad you can understand English as Spanish is difficult for me and I have to have my Friend who's mothr is from Spain help me. What I know about this school is that firstly there are not enough instructors so there is a wait time. In the beginning they told Tommy 5 months but it ended up being about 3. He started School the end of February and will be finished April 24th, so about 60 days of school. He will be getting his orders next week for his permenant duty station, so it looks like they know where they will be stationed about 5 weeks into school. This is a great site to get all your questions answered. I know it must be hard for you and your daughter without your husband at home, I know how much I miss my son. But I also know this is a great thing for him and with the economy the way it is, they will have good jobs. Once he is in A school is there any way you and your daughter can be with him?

Suerte.
