Hi Jeanne,
June has been a whrilwind. Had finals for the Financial Analysis class I was taking. Had a rummage sale to fundraise for the 3-day Breast Cancer walk. Made a WHOPPING $2121. That was WAY more than I ever expected to make. I have met my $2,300 minimum and am still going. I guess some of those marketing and Business classes I took paid off. I have been doing lots of training walks. Did a total of 25 miles last weekend. The Beast was in quarintene for possible Swine flu. It wasn't Swine Flu, just the plain old flu. He is out and Finally classed up for his A school. I guess he is on the Romeo Platform which means 28 weeks of training to be able to do something with computers and other electronic gadgets.
Because he classed up before the 3 day weekend, he was not able to get leave like we first thought. It is looking like it might end up being a full year until we get to see him again. At least I get to talk to him everyday which is a lot more than so many mom's get. I will just count my blessings.

Thanks for thinking about me, and for asking.
P.S. I like your music collection on this page.

Carol F thanks for the comment. I have her here home safe now. Her eyes are still puffy and the scar on her forhead is deep. Carol she is so beautiful to me! I could not hug her as much as I want to because I think I'd scwish her!

Dear Jeanne, I'm sorry I missed your post. I love all your pics on your page and your post above brings tears to my eyes. You have every right to be so proud. Our son has not been to Iraq. His path has been 'safe' for now. We don't know where the next station will be. But we pray that wherever it is, he will come home. Our prayers are with your and yours.

Hi Jeanne,
The Beast spent the 3 day weekend in Orlando visiting a friend from High School who now lives there. He had a great time. He just had to move to a different dorm, so new room mates again. It looks like he will get to come home for Independance Day in July.

About me:
These flames will burn until they all come home to America.

My Brave Soldier
My brave daughter as you lay sleeping peaceful and safe, with your head laying softly in my lap.You open your eyes quickly, unsure of where you are. "Rest honey", I tell you."Your home safe "and for just a moment you smile, then sleep takes you again. I wonder if you realize that your bravery keeps this home safe. I see only my baby girl. The world sees the brave soldier, I see only the soft curls around your beautiful face. I wonder if you know as you lay sleeping, how privileged I feel to be your mother. I wonder where the little girl is that was so afraid of the trees shadow, dancing across your wall on a windy night. When did the soldier apear? Then as I watch your chest rise and fall steady, and your heart beat strong, I see the answer. You where always that brave soldier. I remembered you standing in your dads work boots, so proud to walk in his shoes. As I stroke you hair and I hear you softly sigh, I remember that brave little girl who got on that bus the first time. Alone and unsure, but determined that you could do it all by yourself. You worked so hard to learn everything on those tests, not because you where afraid of what the other kids would say, but because you hated to fail. Now more then ever I can see you teaching your own sons to be brave little soldiers. To stand gaurd over each other. I wonder, will I be able to let you go to be that soldier again? Can I stand to let go once again, trusting the world with my heart? Will I be able to hide the tears of fear this time? Then I hear your voice say " I love you Mommy", with the same love you always have, and I know, I will do anything for my baby girl!.

I am the proud of two daughters and 5 Grandsons. Married to a great man. I own a little quilting company . My Navy soldier is not a sailor. She is a Navy Seabee. It seems a shame, but most of America does not know what a Seabee is. These men and women are fighting everyday in this war with millions not knowing they are fighting for this country, let alone a huge part of the Navy. They are around the world side by side with Navy, Army, Marines and most branches of the military. We are very proud to be a Navy Seabee Family. Can Do!

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Expect the unexpected. Never think your child has learned as much as they are going to. There is always a new and exciting way you will see them grow. Your child will become more focused then you will expect. Be prepared to brag about your child more then you really should. Learn the language. The rates and ranks. It helps them a lot. Encourage them. Be excited for them. They will do the rest. The one thing that I think is most important is, let this be their mountain to climb! They don't need us to carry them this time.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Our daughter.

Our hero! She took her honor roll and uses it to protect her family & yours!
