Thank you Casey for creating this group. It is awesome that we can meet the families of other sailors who are on the ship with JT.

About me:
Proud mom of 3 children. Uprooted from California and transplanted to Ohio. Missing my friends and my son.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
You have to expect the unexpected. Be ready for some disappointment. We flew to PIR and he ended up being a grad and go. Then he came home on his first two week leave and was called back a week early. He had new orders and had to be back on base after only the first week. However, the Navy has been a life changing experience for my son. Our family closeness has grown stronger and we all are so proud of his decision to serve our country.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Welcome to Ohio!! How is your son doing? This is hard for me to write, knowing
everyone is reading it and not sure what we are to say and not say about our sons. LOL!

Hi

I would like to meet you on Saturday, but my husband is off this weekend and we are going somewhere to watch the game. Let me know if another time works sometime. I work part time up in the north end and could meet in Westerville easily. I've met Cynthia a couple of times last year when we got together. (I think it's Cynthia from Grove City who quilts) I noticed the last comment I got from you I got twice - was there another Debbie out there also? Let me know when another time works. Take care.

Dear Denise,
How are you doing today?
I've been so dilrious since Kim first told us. Now after the sonogram, forget it! HAHHA!
Kim's also having a 3D unltrasound on Wednesday. I can't wait. She send me the regular ultrasound graph, I can never make up what I;m looking at with those.

I can't understand how thes companies only give a few weeks off for maternity leave. You know it has to be idiot men who decide on that. How do expect a woman to go back to work when she hasn't slept in months. All three of my babies, did not sleep through the night until after three were 3 months old.

From what Kim told me, now she's working in an office, and will be on shore for a full year. So evenualy she will go back on the ship. Now the ship, so far, as taken a few 2 week cruises. WHen she's on the ship, I don't know how we're going to work this. We live so far from one another. Whenever she does deploy, I'll have the baby. I know her ship is going on deployment for 9 months, early next year.

The New York moms get together every now and than for luncheons. It's so nice meeting other Navy moms. I hope your get together works out nice.

I didn't really see much on the foliage, now the trees are almost bear. I wish Fall lasted longer. You know what I hate, by 5 PM it's dark. WHen I used to work in the city, I got so depressed. I left for work in the dark, and by the time I got off the train going home, it was dark again. That used to depress me so much.

I'm New York born and breed, and still hate driving in the snow. I don't drive anymore. but when I did, that was a nightmare. How many times I couldn't get out of my parking spot, and the skidding. That's scary.

I wish your your daughter all the best in college. I'll keep you and your husband in prayer with your finances. I aggree with you about a smaller college. We checked out colleges for my older daughter years ago. What I didn't like, the fact the kids are 18 and the "Of Age" busieness, there was no supervision at all. So the kids go wild, with no mom or dad around. How many times we read horror stories on what happened at a college party. The kids are always partying, getting past the word of drunk.

Let me get going. I only got the computer now at 1:00 AM. Kim and I were writting to one another earlier though, on the instant message. That's great! HAHA! She wrote my little guy had hiccups again! HAHA!

You have a blessed day.
Take care and God bless,
Barbara

Hi JT's mom:

Next weekend may work, let me know what your schedule is like. Did you get to OSU for a tour? Where else is your daughter thinking about applying? Our son went to Wooster which is a nice little school about 1 1/2 hours NE of here. Our daughter went there for a year and transferred to OSU. She graduates on Dec. 13! Is your daughter a senior? If you have any questions about any of the places since you aren't from around here. let me know. My kids have had friends at several different schools in Ohio. There are alot of good colleges nearby. Let me know about your schedule and hope maybe some other moms can come too.

Dear JTsmom,
Thank you. I am so exited. Kim swears she only found out 2 weeks ago, She
e-mailed me pictures of her bare abdomen! HAHHA! She had the ultrasound yesterday. The latest update, the baby is 3 lbs 14 ounces, the due date in Jan 2, and it's a boy! HAHA! I've been crying since yesterday!! HAHA!!

SO now I plan to go down to Virginia Dec 26 and stay at least a month. What ashme is, the Navy only gives 6 weeks maternity leave.

I pray Kim doesn't surprise us for Thanksgiving. She's still talking about it. I told her, she's too heavily pregnant for that travel.

The baby's father is out to sea right now. That's the bad part, even with me, living so far from Kim, the baby is not going to remember me. Then whenever I have the baby, he won't remember Kim.

Thank you so very much, for your prayers. I was saying, Kim and I have to have a plan, I want phone numbers by the phone, and the taxi being the first one to call. I pray the weather is good, if not, we won't be able to get a taxi. She does have a car, but I can't drive anymore, and I know she won't be driving if she's in labor.

Let me get oging. Thank you again.
God bless you and your family.
Take care,
Barbara

Hi JT's Mom:

Has your son headed back to Chicago? It sounds like he has had some ups and downs. I know there is alot of studying at Goose Creek. My son made it through, but he is older and had been through college which may have helped, but I know he had to work hard. When will your son find out what he will be doing and where he will be going? Did he have any choice? Good luck to him in this new field. It sounds like you are making the adjustment. This week has been much more normal and the leaves have been beautiful. We went to the apple orchard (Lynd's) yesterday. It is straight east of town off of Morse Rd. Last weekend we went north of here about and hour - great state park called Mohican. Lots of places you can check out at some point.

Hey, I see there is another Debbie in Columbus, so I didn't mean to invite myself on Saturday. Sorry about that.

Heading off to work, have a good weekend.
