Hi Jane
No, I haven't heard from JP since I called him just after my birthday July 6. We talked for a few mins then he said he'd call me back later that he'd been working and wanted to catch a nap then he'd call me back. Sill waiting on the call back. sigh I've emailed him, sent him a message on Facebook a couple of times and still nothing. Oh well, I know he's still alive because of the facebook entries he puts in. I've learned to live with no communication from my kids, not gonna tell you I like it.
Going to Winston with my friend from church. she says the best buy for tires is at Sam's so off I go.
Take care & try not to worry. I've found it doesn't change a thing but makes ME older, therefore...NOT gonna worry 'bout them grown kids that will learn one day that time goes by but you can't recover what you MISSED during that time. Lesson wasted on youth and cherished by older people(NOT saying OLD people LOL). When they need me, they know where I am. THAT I bank on.....
Later lady! Take care!

Hi Jane
My son is also on the Houston. I'd be willing to bet he and your son know each other. They were probably at Groton together. I got a surprise phone call from Kim's son. It was hilarious. Was scarey at first. He said "I'm one of your son's shipmates" and the first thing I said was "Is he alright?" Then he explained that he liked calling the moms of his shipmates & talking to them.
Anyway, welcome to the N4Ms & the Guam/Houston moms. I'm still kinda new here but it's been nice to find people to communicate with that have something in common. I miss my son but am SOOOOO proud of him. He's growing into a man he wouldn't have been without this experience. I'm thankful God is keeping him safe and hope to see him home on leave soon.
Rebecca
PS My sailor is my baby/youngest too. :D

Hey Jane, Thanks again for all the info. I know you must be tired after you visit, they go by so fast and really leave you feeling drained of energy. I manage a local vet clinic and work here in town. I also, bred, train and show horses. I stay pretty busy. I have an older son thats 30 married with a 2 yr old granddaughter. My sailor is my youngest of 2 children. We live on a farm in Cartersville, Ga. ( nw of atlanta ) on the etowah river.
Thanks again for all the info, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon.

Thanks for the information Jane, its nice to have a group of people that know how you feel. This is all new to us, and you know we moms worry. I did get email from him this am, he is doing good said it was hot and the base was very large, really needs a car to get around its so big. I'm suprised about the housing, how does your son like living off base? Does he have a car?
Thank you for your support. God Bless, Dianne

Hi Jane,
I just wanted to pop over say Hi. Have you talked to Sean lately? Did that USS Houston website come thru for you? I know it probably didn't help much, since it hasn't been update in years, but some of the pics are fun to look at. Have you have a chance to ask Sean about Duran?

Hi Jane,
I just sent you a email with the Houston website. Duran didn't mention that it had been cancelled. What a bummer. I know he was really looking forward to going.

Hi Jane,
I spoke to Duran again this morning and remembered this time to ask about your son. Yes he knows him!! He has worked with him a few times. He said he is a really nice guy. Were you able to find the website for the USS Houston. I have it and I can email it to you if you want.

Hi Jane: Our daughter Natalie has been in for 6 1/2 years now, spent two years in Sicily (right after A school) six months of trng in San Diego, CA then it was off to Guam for three years, now she is in Washington DC (hopefully for three years). She is a MA (military police) currently her job is escorting a top Naval Official. We are so very proud of her and all she has done, and she has given us some travel opportunities we visited her in Sicily, Guam and DC and hope to DC more often. DC is only five hours away for us, she has been home few times since last June but it seems there is always something going on and so many friends to see.
