Hi Jane, I would like to tell you a little about my son's experience, but I would prefer to do so on a private message. I've invited you to 'be my friend'. If you accept, I'll send you an 'email' on this site.

Hi Jane-

I am so sorry to hear about what has happened to your family....this is ridiculous!

I don't know what I can do, but if there is something, please let me know. I live in Whittier (far from you but not far from CSUF)...like I say, I don't know what I can do, but if you need me....let me know...

GOOD LUCK!!

Jacquie

Thank you for the nice welcome! I have read the rules for NFM and they are pretty standard. I actually work on the Internet for a large Social Networking site, so I'm pretty familiar with what is (and is not) acceptable behavior online. I love Navy for Moms, and I'm so grateful to have a resource like this as my son's time of departure approaches. T-Minus one week and counting until Tommy ships out to Great Lakes for basic. We had his "friends" going away party last Saturday and will have another one for family this Saturday. I will post pictures from his last party as soon as I can find a moment. I work 60 hours a week and with everything else going on, it's very hectic. Glad to know that Navy for Moms is here to answer questions and provide support!

Hello & Welcome to N4M’s!
My name is Catherine the Admin and I want to thank you for joining us! To help you know the “Do’s and Don’ts” for the community- I wrote up a quick little ditty for you to read. So click here and read them (pretty please with a cherry on top because the rules are enforced)! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns afterwards- please don’t hesitate to contact me.
So, enjoy your time here and I'm looking forward (along with the community) to reading more about you. :D
Sincerely, Catherine

Welcome aboard!!

We are so glad that you are here! This is a great place to meet others that know exactly how you feel!
We have something for everyone here groups from boot camp moms to overseas moms and moms that like to scrap book. We have meet and greets to events that the moms set up to meet each other and have dinner or an outing. There are groups to help you with each and every step of this wonderful adventure that our children have chosen called the US Navy.

Please tell us about your sailor and what they have chosen to do in the navy and ohh yeah we LOVE pictures of everyone !!

Please let me know if you have any questions I can help you with.

Profile Information

About me:
I'm a single mom who works as a media research executive and my only son is going into the Navy in about a week. He is 18 and decided he would rather serve his country first and do college after (or maybe even during if ROTC comes through). He ships out on 11-26-08 for Great Lakes Naval base for basic training. I've made my profile picture his Navy cake from his going away party that we held last week. He won't be here for Thanksgiving, so we had a turkey dinner with all the trimmings two weeks early!
I am here to support or represent my:

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I'm not sure...I'm still learning every day! I'll probably know more after he writes to me from basic! I have faith in the Navy, as I've had many friends and relatives who have had great experiences.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger
