Profile Information

About me:
I have 5 wonderful children ages 20-5. I have 3 boys and 2 girls, they are my life. My 18 year old son Cody is now in Navy boot camp. I pray for him everyday but know this is the best decision he's ever made for himself. I know he has it in him, I just hope he knows that. I work nights as an emergency room nurse at a trauma 1 medical center in Springfield Illinois.
I am here to support or represent my:
William "Cody"
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Was relieved, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
If I were young and not so out of shape, I'd be right there with him. I miss him, but am extremely proud of him for this decision. I've learned that as a mom I have to learn to let go so they can flourish into who they will become.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

When the "storms of life"
Gather darkly ahead,
I think of these wonderful words
I once read.
And I say to myself
As "threatening clouds" hover,
Don't "fold up your wings"
And "run for cover."

But like the eagle,
"Spread wide your wings"
And "soar far above"
The troubles life brings.

For the eagle knows
That the higher he flies,
The more tranquil and brighter
Become the skies.

And there is nothing in life
God ever asks us to bear
That we can't soar above
"On the wings of prayer."

And in looking back over
The "storm you passed through,"
You'll find you gained strength
And new courage, too.

For in facing "life's storms"
With an eagle's wings,
You can fly far above
Earth's small, petty things.

Hello, i saw one of your comments. My son was suppossed to PIR on March 13 th. He didnt because he couldnt finnish his run in time. Then, he was sent to the FIT div on ship 06. Since then, he has had bad chest pains, high fevers, shin splints and now a stress fracture. I am so frustrated and dont know what to think or who to contact. How long can he stay there ? I read your comment and I also just wish he would come home. Did your son ever go back to the Navy ? If he does...does he have to go through boot camp again? How do I call someone like his recruiter or whoever is in charge of him over there? None of them officers have ever called me. The Cardiologist did clear him, but he has been delayed plenty of times, and it just seems like something else pops up. Thank You. Cathy

How are you? How is your son doing? My friend Karen 'Navy' mom is going through her son's release from the Navy. He had heart issues. It is a long a hard process for both sides I can see. I don't think Damien will be able to try again though. Hope you are doing super....all of you! My son should be going into A school in a week. It is like pulling teeth to get information out of him. Let me know how you are.

Janet, I was recently reading your post to ship 17 group and I have the same experience with my daughter. She developed shin splints and completed ALL of her training and couldn't pass the run section of the PFA, stayed in RCU from October doing therapy etc. Then one day she called and said the Chief said "We've been here too long, Medical called and told me I was being separated". So its been 3 weeks, she's completed legal and all just waiting to leave. Will your child have the opportunity to return? She can return to any branch in one year. She says she will be going back and I pray that she will and nothing happens during this wait period that would prevent that. Be blessed and keep praying for our children, they are proud, hard working individuals. Angie

Janet, sorry I haven't written sooner. Been making plans to go to Norfolk to meet Chris when his ship comes in this spring. They are already past the half way point and hopefully nothing happens to extend the deployment. How are you doing, how is Cody? Miss talking with you. Take care.
Lots of love and hugs
