This is what I'm going through

July of 2007 my son Mikey, a medical corpsman, was slated to go to Afghanistan. He was given his 30 day leave before his deployment. We spent this time with relatives and friends. The ususal get togethers/parties. A couple of days before he had to leave he recieved an e-mail from his sgt. saying he was cut from the unit list along with 2 other marines. Mikey was very upset and terribly disappointed. My husband and I on the other hand were relieved. Mikey went back to Okinawa. Now a year has past… Continue

Janice - I totally agree - it is time to plan a get together!! I heard the same thing about showers later today, but none so far on the other side of the mountain from you! I have a 1970-something, little MG that my husband restored and gave to me on our 25th anniversary. I only take Piglet (yes I named my little car) out on sunny days because I refuse to put the top up! I was hoping for sunshine this week, but the damn weatherman is messing with us here in CT!!! Today is "domestic goddess" day... so I'm off to get behind the vacuum, clean bathrooms, finish laundry and all those other lovely things! How about we all meet for dinner out....big table where we can all gab the night away?

Hi, Janice. Thank you for your comment. I love your pics. I will figure out how to get pics on my site so i can share as well. You must be sooo proud of your son. My son started Jan. 2008. He wants to come home and be a Firefighter/paramedic. However, he may change his mind and do something more with medicine as well- he is considering being a Physisian Assistant. He signed two active/ two active reserve- however- he is strongly considering signing for the last two as active so he can stay with his Marines he is with. They make a great team. Take care!

Janice,
It was so nice to hear from someone that went through what we are going through. Thanks so much for your words of encourgement. How did your son's deployment go? I bet you are relieved that he returned safe and sound! Greg still has a lot of training to go through before he leaves (I should say if he leaves....you know how the military is) orders can be changed at any time. I hope to hear from him son and I will ask him if he knows a corpsman named Mikey.

Thanks janice,
I never thought it would hurt so much. I was so brave yet I can't even look at his photos without tears. It gets better than wham it hurts all over. I guess I just need time and I hope he is enjoying meeting new friends and Lucas always loved a challange. Carol

Great to hear from you. I certainly know where West Hartford is as I got my masters from University of Hartford and used to live at the Pebblebrook apts. near West Farms. I am just hoping my son passes the PFA as that was his biggest concern. He was DEP (delayed enlistment) and had met the initial requirements but I am sure he had a way to go. He really wants this; if all goes well he is supposed to go to A school in San Diego for Sonar. I can't wait to see him and just hope all goes well for his sake.
