I think we all have pride in our sons, but some, like me, wasn't so happy with our son's decision,to join the Navy. In fact, to be quite honest, I had a "come apart" when he did. I was hoping he'd stay in college, not join on a whim. Having said, ...

My humble opinion is that if she has second thoughts, she shouldn't do it!!! She is soooo young and she has plenty of time to re-think things. I just think 17 is so very young to be making such life changing decisions. My son went in at age 24 and...

I'm been married for 37 years and have 5 children and 4 grandchildren. Our youngest son, Patrick, left for the Navy yesterday from Birmingham, Alabama and is now in Boot Camp. He left April 7th, 2008....Even though we have 5 children, each one of them means more to us than life itself. I am VERY thankful to have all our children in town (B'ham) , close by but when ONE is gone, it's as if a wagon wheel is missing on the wagon! We all are missing our Patrick but know that God has great plans for him and I trust God to take care of him while he is away from us! Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was confused, Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I'm learning! Patience, patience, Patience! It's so hard to have to WAIT to hear from your son's first call; first letter; 2nd call; orders; dates of graduation!!! I'm STILL trying to be patient and trying to tell Patrick to do likewise!

Heat Index is too high for a bear!

The heat index in the 'Ham is about 106 degrees. Poor PatPat! He loves to be outside but the heat doesn't allow for him to be out for long periods of time! Here he is "resting" on the back porch dreaming about COOLER weather in....HAWAII! LOL!

Hey Jan how are u doing? I think of u often as I do my other friends. I miss talking with everyone and hearing about all the wonderful things that their sons and daughters are doing. My son has been able to come often now that he is out of BC and station closer to us. He is about 7 &1/2 hrs away now and that is such a blessing. When he comes home he takes pics of the food before he eats. ( which I have not understood yet) He has been bring a friend home with him when he comes and I just love having young people in the house again. They eat the food faster than I can cook it; it seem like. He will be starting school this winter if all goes well. he working in the hosp. now, will start a new job this month that he looking forward to starting. And I thank God for taking care of him and his fellow soliders too.

Hey there Jan!! Thanks for getting in touch with me on here!! I'm terrible at my "computer time" also!! Oh and by the way I do have a name!! LOL!! Its Jency!! I wish I'd had this site the whole time since '06 when Josh went in!! We are kind of "old timers"!! Josh is out on the IKE right now. He works the flight deck. I have a time keeping up with his Navy life!! It has been a big adjustment and I was not ready for "empty nest"!! We are in Hayden but do wish we could move back "home" to Guntersville AL where we grew up!! I really do hope to hear more from you when we can get online that is!! God Bless!! :-) Jency

PLEASE PRAY FOR MICHAEL HALPERT, he is a Petty Officer in the Navy.He had an accident last night and has terrible skull injuries. He is in ICU. Please be in prayer for his mother, Maxine and his step dad, Paul. I met Maxine last year in New York for the "Paint the Plaza Blue" and she is an incredible person and Navy mom! Prayers to their family...Jan
