I have Methodist Church conference from June 3-6, then work the 8th. Not sure if I work at all the 9-10th for closing up the kitchen for the summer. Then I have some free time until Andy's Power School graduation. We are driving down for a wedding shower in a couple of weeks if you need us to throw anything in the van for your Nuke!
MISS YOU!

Hi, Janis - I just want to send you and your (now, by the time you read this) Petty Officer Michael a big, warm Blue Skies Salute!! Congratulations.

I am from Belleville, and my husband is a teacher, also. He teaches at SWIC, St. Louis Community College campuses, and McKendree. Any my Sailor's first name is Michael too.

We're close enough, I hope all of us Metro East moms can get together for coffee or lunch, sometime - those of us closer and available maybe sooner.

Blue Skies, Salute Mom of Petty Officer Michael!

My son (now in prototype) had this problem badly in BC. He was one of the older guys in the class and had trouble dealing with the immaturity. He was told that it was the biggest problem the more mature members of the military will have until they advance above these screw-ups. It is hard to see this problem and have the consequences handed out to the entire group.
By the nature of the screening for nuke program it often brings in people who have "misbehaved" in school prior to joining the program because they are not challenged. "A" school may not adequately challenge all of them (power school should), but eventually their behavior or effort should get them out of Mike's way.
My son was lucky, he soon lost most of the problems in his section. The LPO's and Chiefs have identified the problems and will be dealing with them. They have to try to get as many through the pipeline as they can, so they don't give up too early.
Mike should hang in there, it will all work out. Give him all the support you can. Care packages from home help too.

I am anxious to hear how your visit with your sailor was. I know it is hectic, back to work and life as normal. Let me hear from you some time and we need to get together.

After graduation from Power School, these nucs have so many options. Overwhelming is one word for it. Dean was offered staff pick up, officers training, Newport News, Virginia, and others. . . . For awhile, him and Ashley lived in this constant state of confusion. And then, at the last minute (you know, Navy style), things are decided and he will get his orders and everything falls into place. Dean has loved being an ELT, but I know being a nuc offers many opportunities. Let me know what happens and what he chooses. For no other reason than I am curious and really excited for Mike and for you, because this is just the beginning for us.
