How cool! My husband used to be the Commanding Officer of the Engineering Duty Officer school at Port Hueneme! He will love that, we will definitely be there! Thank you so much for that information.

Actually we just found out about his orders Friday so we do not know anything about the schedule yet. So the commissioning is in April? What is the exact date? George is a Gas Turbine Systems Mechanic. He started out as an EOD Tech but decided it wasn't for him so switched careers during EOD Prep at Great Lakes. He went through Boot Camp in May graduating in July then began BECC in September and will graduate GSM A School this Friday. I am hoping that he will be able to come home prior to heading to Maine. It would be nice to have him home for Christmas. How exciting to be part of a new ship. My husband would probably LOVE to go to the ceremony so that's a strong possibility. He's retired Navy.

Thank you!

My sailor, Eric, joined last July and is currently in training at Norfolk. He's a Gunner's Mate and has been assigned to the USS Stockdale, a new ship still being built in Bath, Maine. He's excited to be part of a pre-commissioned crew, a big honor apparently! I'm still learning about these things. Eventually the ships' home port will be San Diego. We're looking forward to that because we live only a couple hours drive from San Diego so he'll be close to home, at least for a while.
