Hey Jeanette, I did not think you said anything wrong at all. I was dreaming last night that I sent Terry one of those old woodburning kits, so he could burn his name into everything!!! LOL
When things like that happen, he doesn't seem to get as upset as I do. He knows its only material. But he does get a bit peeved. The things that bother him the is when someone hurts a person that he loves or cares for. I respect that, but he does need to be to more careful...I mean how many times you gonna want to replace your camera??? He is young and when he has his family it will be different for him. :)

Happy Sunday Jeanette,
I have to sit and write out all of my cards this afternoon, I just got home from work (yuck, retail sucks!). James has not been very talkative in his e-mails lately so not much new news from him, I asked for details of Italy & Greece and got nadda. So I keep asking, i figure he will eventually get tired of reading the same thing over -n- over and answer the questions. He did receive 1 of 4 packages.
How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was real nice and very enjoyable (when you are around that much family it's not always pleasant). TTFN I am off to play POGO.com

Hi Jeanette, Yes james does like being an ET he also has a 2nd designation but I can not think of it right now. He took a 2nd C-school after one of their short readiness exersizes. there was a problem in another shop and he jumped in to help, and the sailor who was in school for that possition got kicked out of the school He asked if he could take the course and the XO made sure he got in. He graduated from that one in the top 90 percent of his class. He likes being on a DDG and was glad to not be asigned to a CVN. Hey I hope you get to see your son on TV Friday (CBS Morning Show).

Hi Jeanette, My son is on the Nitze and when he was in Italy he took the train to Rome for a day and wondered all over Naples. Do not get me wrong he likes beer too but his goal is to see the world not just the bars of the world. I hope your son hooks up with a more outgoing group on his next shore leave. Is your son on the TR or was that the Nitze I see in the above pictures? My son is an ET.

My son has only been in since 6-07. This is his first deployment. That is nice your in Va. How long of a drive will you have for the homecoming? I am looking at about 11 or 12 hours but it will be worth the drive. The Navy has been a positive for my son Brandon. He is a good kid, but his friends weren't going anywhere and he knew that by continuing to hang w/ them could be trouble. He moved to TN and worked for an auto company and then called me one day and said ma I am joining the navy. I said no your not! He said I am 20 yrs old mom and you can't tell me I am not signing. So he moved back home and was in the Deployed entry program and left for Great lakes 6-07 prior to his 21st b day. I am proud of him now. I am proud of all the sailors who serve our country and all the sacrafices they make to serve. Take careand will talk soon I am going to get a late dinner here. Tracy

My son is V-3 division. Hard to say if they will ever meet w/ all the sailors on board. I know he would much rather see the sights also, you can drink in a bar anywhere, how often do you get to travel to another country. How long has your son been in again? Talk to you soon. Tracy

Profile Information

About me:
I'm an accountant and a single parent. I gave my son an ultimatum when he wasn't going anywhere after HS, either go to work full time or get in the service. A Navy recruiter called the next week and the rest is history.
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted, Overseas
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it, Was relieved, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
It is very important to send as many letters and cards as possible while your child is in boot camp. They are going through a life changing experience and need to know that in the outside world there are still those that love and cherish them.

After boot camp when he didn't need me as much I learned threatening to call the Red Cross to know if he was still alive worked too. LOL
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, This was the best decision he/she could have made
