Profile Information

About me:
I have 3 sons, twins, TerryLee and Steve, 30, and the youngest is Jeff, 22, Corpsman/Pharmacy tech, who just advanced to Petty Officer 3rd Class, U. S. Naval Hospital, Guam. I have my husband Terry, soon to be married 32 yrs. this June.,a golden retriever named Rusty,(Jeffs' dog) and two cats, Muffin and Maverick. Over the yrs. I have been in customer service, a caregiver for an infant, and was in the merchandising field as well. Looking forward to when my hubby retires in about 2-3 yrs.Would really love to make the home in Hawaii, been there once when one of my oldest, TerryLee, was stationed on the U.S.S. Hopper, Pearl Harbor. so I have had experiences being a navy mom, twice. My husband was formally in the Navy too of the Vietnam era.
I am here to support or represent my:

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
You have so many mixed feelings, proud, worry, heartache, frustration, joy etc. etc. The Navy can be so positive & maturing for them, but then it is hard to accept "did they make the right choice" when they come home very sick and no one knows why. My eldest has battled an undiagnosed illness for 5 yrs. It has been a nightmare for all of us sometimes. And it hasn't been very easy( and that's putting it mildly) dealing with the VA. With my youngest, I hope and pray he stays well. He will just need to make sure all is documented medically, very important. I know my eldest has said if this illness wasn't in his life, he would reenlist. so I guess that says alot for the navy.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Dear Jeff's Mom,
I am sorry to not have replied to you before now. My family and I were on vacation and just got back late Monday evening this week. We were at Disney World and had a great month.
I would love to get to know you better. I live in Millville , age 51 and as you know I am the mom of two sets of twins. One set is actually my husband's twins from his first marriage, they are Joe and Jason age 30. Joe is in the Army and Jason lives in Pennsylvania. My twins are from my first marriage and just turned 26 in June. Scott is my Sailor and Bryan is my Marine. My husband has two daughters from his other marriage. They are Liz age 24 and Alisha age 19. Both girls live on their own away from home.
My son Scott is working on being a Master At Arms and has been in the Navy for one year. My son Bryan is a Marine Corperal stationed in North Carolina. My husband and I have a daughter together , Summer is 10 and will be 11 on the 22 of this month.
My husband also served in the Navy during Viet Nam. I bet your husband and mine would have a lot in common. We will have to get together. My private email address is MRNMM13B@AOL.COM. Wrtie me if you would like to talk or get together.
Your new frielnd, Beth

Hello Jeff's Mom! thank you for writing to me, it was great to hear from another Ohio mom, let alone one with a son in Guam as well! I live near Lancaster, where are you? My son is on the USS Frank Cable. He has been over there since November 1. Not sure how much you read of my profile and such, so hope I'm not being repetetive. It sounds like your son is doing great, congratulations! And I'm so excited for you that he is coming home soon. I hope you have a wonderful time. Take care!

Hello Nancy!

Do you mean to tell me that you are still here in Oxford? I know there are other Navy moms, but mome I've met since Josh went in 2 years ago.

My son Josh is stationed at NAS Lemoore, CA. He's a PR (parachute rigger) for a strike fighter grouper - VFA 14 The Tophatters. Lemoore, CA is in the middle of California. Small town like Oxford. The base is twice as large as the town.

Congratulations to your son on becoming PO3! Josh just got his "crow" as well. His squadron sails out on the Nimitz- and he got his "crow tacked on" while out at sea. (I didn't realize that the pay raise doesn't arrive until 5 months down the road!)

I'm flying out there in less than 2 weeks. Josh turns 21 on June 27th. I won't be in town when your son arrives.
Josh has been in the Navy for 2 yearson Aug 20th.

My brother Jeff (Greenfield, OH) was stationed Guam while he in was in the Air Force. My dad flew over there twice to see him and his family- and then some "island-hopping." Beautiful place.

No- it wasn't me you saw at the post office. But I hope to meet you soon. Especially if you're here in Oxford!
