Wow Karen! You are truly lucky to have your son stationed only 2 hours away! I cannot believe it has been nearly a year since my son left for BC... those first few weeks were difficult. He wasn't allowed to call often and one day that he actually ha…

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
letting go is hard, but we raise our children with the knowledge that we will someday have to turn them loose. Give them roots and give them wings.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer

Hi Jennifer, Mandy is going to be an Electricians Mate...She will be at GL for A school. I got a letter from her today:) She was not happy they were going to cut her hair again...It sounds like this week was intense...It sounds like they will be starting Battle stations some time the beginning of the week. What will your son be doing in the Navy? Where is he attending A school?

Hi Jennifer, My name is Cheryl and my daughter is in Div 931 ship 6 also PIR 6/20. I have had a very rough time since she left. Even when she was away at college we still talked daily. I have only talked to her twice since she left. The last time over 3 weeks ago. I'm counting the days until I see her. I send letters daily along with jokes or cartoons, she said the mail helps them get thru.

Hi Jennifer! Thanks for writing! I am soooo sorry that Gary's girlfriend didn't get his calls. There is nothing worse than missing a call especially at this time while he is away. I still haven't heard my sons voice since he left, but I get my letters and that is good enough for me at this point. (At least I am getting those!). No letters today though due to the holiday Monday, so I am hoping to receive something tomorrow. What hotel will you be staying at? I am at the Holiday Inn. It is 9-10 miles away from the base, but they have alot to offer there for $79 a night. I have my youngest, and there is a gameroom there for him, plus he eats free! That works for me! But keep in touch, I would love to talk to you somemore. Take care...Michelle

Caitlin is Division 219 Ship 7 but she is graduating on 6/13. I hope all is well with your son. I know this is really hard but I must tell you I am so excited to see my son on Friday at his PIR. The time really does go by.
