Hi Jess, I'm actually getting ready to travel to Great Lakes for his graduation. I talked with him today and my heart is so happy to hear how well he's doing! He's really feeling proud of himself and has a true sense of "this is what I do."

Thanks, Jess. Actually, I feel so strange these last two weeks. Like I don't want to do anything that I normally do as a routine. I feel fear for him (what if he gets mouthy and ends up doing 1000 pushups or something like that?) and sadness that he's gone. Aside from that, I just feel blocked, like I'm holding my breath. And I'm having a hard time realizing it's because he's gone. It's not like he won't come home again, but it's a really long separation! And the fact that there is no contact seems to really increase the feelings. We haven't received the "box" - maybe today? I figured I'd call his Petty Officer today and see if he has his address yet.

I appreciate your support, Jen!

Martha :)

yes I understand how difficult it is, but belive it or not it does get better. As we learn that things are ok for them there and that they can do this! We can too!! once out of boot camp you can talk to them more and things get eaiser because we have learned to "let go" (no I do not like it either LOL) Please know that we are all here to support you thorough this

Let me know if you need anything

Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings
