About me:
I am 60 now and finally getting the empty nest or the nest empty depending on how I feel at the time. My "baby" is leaving and will be sorely missed by both of his parents. I am not what others would consider "computer literate" and this site ought to be very interesting to say the least. I had one son in the Marines during Desert Storm and one son in the Army (who never went anywhere out of the USA) This one chose Navy and we couldn't be more proud of his choice. His grandfather was career Navy and an Annapolis grad class of 40.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Encourage, encourage, encourage.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Jessica, hi from a fellow Virginian!! I noticed your comment in the Nuke Moms page. What stage of training is your son in. Mine has graduated power school on the 20th of November and is now on hold awaiting an assignment for prototype hoping for GC). He is a MM. I am 65 and understand the empty nest you speak of. When he went away to college in 2005, I had a very hard time. He was the last of four and the only boy. I had been raising children for 42 years and it certainly was a new experience. Hope your sailor has safe passage home. I will pray for all of our traveling sailors for their safe passage. Have a very blessed Christmas. Judy R.

Jessica...ooh so true..resturant food for thanksgiving yuck!! Nate to was suppose to be grad and go but we got him and a coupld other Sailors till 8 and then we meet them the next day at midway. I live close so It was not so bad. I felt bad for all his friends that came to see him graduate that they missed dinner with their family but they love Nate and care for him and it was a once in a life time for them. Nate came home thanksgiving too, I think it will be for a week of christmas but unfortunately he bought a truck and they supposively gave him a warranty and now trans problems. Navy mom on attack now :)

Hi again,
Thanks for your message. I'm going to try to contact him in the next couple of days. I am upbeat when he calls and I do try to encourage him and tell him to keep the faith. He, and all the guys are working so hard.
I'd better get off to work. Maggie

Hi Jessica,
I saw that you mentioned your sailor is struggling a bit. Mine continues to be on the edge as that seems to have been the case from the beginning of Power School. I'll continue praying for your sailor along with mine and all the other Nukes. My sailor said that he didn't want us to make reservations for plane tickets. I know it is because he fears not passing and us making the trip and he wouldn't be able to see us. I don't really know what the ramifications are if they don't pass at the last minute. Do you have any idea? I think we'll get refundable tickets in the event he passes we would want to be there for graduation. He called on Thanksgiving and sounded tired as I know they all are right now. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. Maggie
