About me:
Hi All!
My name is Jill. I'm here learning all I can about the Navy as my son, Kevin (21), is in DEP. He just signed up so his ship date may not be until June 2010. He'll be an Electrician's Mate, which he is looking forward to. His Dad was in the Navy for 2 years and his Grand Dad was in for 20 years. It must be in his blood. :>

I'm an RN working in a hospital setting and loving it. Hardest job I've ever loved. Kevin has a sister, Katie (24) who is not so sure about this Navy deal. But she's been reading a little here and is gaining more insight into what is ahead for all of us.

Thanks for all the great information shared here. I am sure I'll be asking lots of questions as time goes by.

Kevin has spent the last 7 months speaking with a Navy Recruiter about the possibility of joining. He was encouraged to lose a few pounds, start getting in better physical shape and review for the ASVAB before going to MEPS. He tends to be a fairly calm, easy going, nothing-phases-me kind of kid so he just added the exercise and review into his normal routine. No big deal. No big discussion. HI Jill, I posted a message under Events but I should send out individual messages as well. I believe the following weekend might work out better for me too. KatK said she could not attend this weekend due to family visiting. We will wait & see what all the others say.

HI Jill, OH, I just remembered something! I may not make it on that Saturday also...hmm, just our group rsvp who made it to the restaurant in Tustin last month so far. I do not know everybody's schedule but I wonder if we can change it to Friday the 11th? Do you think you can do it on the 11th if it changes?
