Hi all -- Been a while since I was here; I am now 4 months post-brain-surgery. I'm doing pretty well. My son Matt (going into basic in December) had a car wreck on 7/20 and is recovering. He was t-boned by someone, and was lucky to have only minor…

I will be interested to hear what you find out, Suzanne. Matt has his own laptop, too, but he'll have a while after basic, then training, before he ships out somewhere. Should be interesting to learn all this as we go! Where are Sandy and the baby?…

Hooray Nancy AND Gay! Great news for you both. Oh, and Kerry! Lots of good news lately. Wonderful. Is everyone staying afloat in all this RAIN?!?!?! We had house painters here all week, trying to get the outside painted despite the heavy rain and t-…

Hi all -- Yes, I'm feeling a LOT better! It's been 7 weeks since my surgery, and I feel mostly back to normal. I still have some pain (Tylenol helps), and I get tired faster than I used to. But that means I go to bed at midnight and I'm up by 7 ins…

How exciting, Nancy! I am so happy for you and little Gabe. WHAT FUN! :) We are still in this holding pattern here, waiting for Matt to go to basic training. :O He is taking a summer school course at the local community college, and 4 classes in the…

Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day! We spent much of the day gardening. I did a lot of directing ;) and they hauled big bags of mulch for me, pulled weeds, etc. -- and now the front yard looks great! Sunday is hubby's bday, so they'll do the bac…

Hello, ladies! Just a quick note, after getting a message from Melissa. :) Thanks for checking on me. Haven't been able to read. Had my surgery on 4/8, and I'm home recovering now. LONG surgery, 5.5 hours, 2 hours in recovery. Still dealing w/effect…

Oh, wow. My dad was in Korea as well, but didn't see combat either. Or rather, he saw things, but wasn't involved. He wrote about it in the paper! He has some interesting stories, to be sure. My dad was raised in the Chicago and Wisconsin Dells area…

Thank you. I welcome any and all prayers! :) And I wonder if our dads knew each other?! I know Korea wasn't a small thing, but stranger things have happened....My dad is from Chicago, IL, and was in Korea in 1950-51, I think. He was very lucky, beca…

Thank you. Surgeon says I'll be in ICU a day, then a regular room for about 2 days, then home. 2 weeks of complete rest/sleep, and then 4-6 weeks before I feel "normal" again (he says). I am hoping if I rest a LOT the first 2 weeks, I will recover f…

Not sure if anyone will be at BMC w/my husband while I'm in surgery. He's an introvert, and he reads, so he is fine w/being alone. ;) I am more concerned about the kiddos being alone for 12+ hours, to be honest. I have several people scheduled to ca…

Just a quick note, I am scheduled for brain surgery on 4/8 in Boulder. Any and all prayers appreciated! Surgery is at 10 AM MST, and should last 2-3 hours. Hubby will be at the hospital, and the 6 kids will be at home, waiting to hear how it goes...…

Oh, and I have to add, I love Gail's idea. What a great thing to do. This really is a family, isn't it?! I hope someone will do that for my son someday when he needs a "home" away from home. :)

How is your son doing?..Have you heard from him?..things take time but will fall into place..you will see..as moms we worry a little to much..

My son just arrived from his undersea voyage on Wed. of this week..he has been gone for about 72 days...He lives in WA with his wife and her family is there..it is a great relief to know that he has family there for him..He married a girl from WA..She is a doll and takes my mind off of his care and welfare...

You will find this group to be a very supportive family and hope to meet you one of these days at meet and greet..The southern CO group just met this past Sunday and it was wonderful...

Take care and welcome...

Welcome JoJo...This is such a neet site! But be careful it is addicting. I get on just to see what's going on thinking I will only be on for a short while and before I know it 6-7 or more hours have passed.
My son is Brian, he is on the Rodney M Davis right now. Waiting for his return to SD He is part of the aircrew. He works on the helo's.
I have a brother who lives in Longmont, he retired from the Navy after many years of service. He was in the subs. During his run with the Navy he had 8 kids. All gone from home now. He now is currently working with the Vets. I had another brother retire Navy also and another one from the Air Force. My ex husband was in the Navy in Guam during Viet Nam (we were just dating then) and his brother was also in the Navy. One would think that would give me a pretty good clue as to what is going on with my son but.........Nope.

You will have many hours of computer time here. Keep in mind we are all here for each other. I have been helped so much. You are smart to start now, I didn't know about it until my son was already in for about 3 years.

Good luck with your adventure.

What is Matt going to do and when does he leave? Our son signed up in August before the start of his Senior year in High School, graduated in May and left in August. He truly loves what he is doing and hasn't had a single regret which makes this mom's heart relax a lot. He just finished A school in Goose Creek, he is a Nuke and will start Power School on April 6.

You will meet so many moms on here with such diverse backgrounds, and one major commonality - We LOVE our Sailors and love to support each other. I sure hope you can join us for one of our gatherings. I think Kathy is trying to put a North area one together in April, but if not we'll have another one in the Denver area in April.

I'm really glad you joined us. Let me know if I can help in anyway at all. Take Care JoJo

Welcome aboard! I'm familiar with delayed entry both of our boys utilized for different reasons.
Sounds like you would benefit from the Central Colorado Club activities I was not able to join the get together this weekend, as I had hoped I would. So many things going on here & it is quite a travel for me. Perhaps I can get up that way the next time.
I'm sure you will enjoy being able to network in with a bunch of Navy mom's to help you expand your Navy knowledge. (I know I am.)

Welcome Aboard N4M.

It is so wonderful you have joined us and I would like to invite you to come join the Colorado Moms group too. We just had our first statewide gathering on Jan. 11th and we had a blast. We are in the process of organizing smaller area get togethers in the next couple of months. The Southern Colorado Moms have one scheduled for March 1st in Colorado Springs and the Western Slope moms are putting one together for March 28th, you can find the information in the discussion section of the Colorado Moms site.

Pop in and tell us about your Sailor and yourself. We would love to be of support to both you and Matt as you transition into Navy life. This is a great group of moms and families that love to support our Sailors and their families.

Hope to hear from you soon!!
