My son, Will, is on the USS Hartford. Would love to hear from other Hartford parents. The past month has been tough and continues to be, for me.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
The Navy did a wonderful job keeping our family updated after the recent accident involving the USS Hartford. That means a lot to us.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Yes my little Granddaughter has arrived. She weighed in at 9lb and 13oz and was 21 inches long. She was bruised around the head and face but is doing just fine. Lookes just like her brother. Glad Will is home! Give him a big hug for me and tell him I'm glad he is home and safe. How long has it been sence you last seen him? Will have pictures on my site as soon as I get home. Have to go back Sunday and not looking forward to going back. Chris took his First Class test and got it so now he is MM 1st Class. From the sounds of things he will be getting his Shore Duty around the end of the year, I hope so. Again glad Will is home, home.

Just talked to Chris and he said yep they get her back tomorrow. Chris is doing fine and Liz is due any time. I'm leaving Tuesday to go down and help take care of Allan while Liz is in the hospital. Not sure when they will have to go back out but not looking forward to that eather. Hope it won't be as long as the last time. They where out twice in one year. The first sub to get two consecutive Sea Service medels in one year. Chris is hoping to get shore duty soon and will be up in Balstic Spa NY. A lot closer then Georgia. Have a great day

Jolene has Will made it back yet? How is the boat doing? I was just checking out the USS Florida and see that the Gold Crew brought her back yesterday which means the Blue Crew will be taking her back soon. Not looking forward to that. Your Son has a very infectious smile, he has your smile. Take care and have a Very Happy Mother's Day

No because my son is a very levelheaded kid and understand that is what he has to do. I would like to see him make a career out of the service, but he says No. And he has a wonderful wife who stands by him no matter what. It is harder on her when he is out to sea. Now with the new baby(girl) coming she will have her hands full with Allan (18months old). What I understand he may not be home when the baby comes, or will be leaving very shortly after the baby gets here. I plan on being there as much as I can to help.

Chris is doing fine. He put in for Shore dutie but the Captain told him, in so many words, that if he wasn't worth a pile of dirt(s--t) he would be more than willing to sign the papers but he was too important to let go right now. The Captain wants to keep the guys that he has because of the status or ranking of the Sub. Chris wasn't to happy but understood. He would like to do shore duty because of the new baby coming and because of his son. Just wants to be home for his family

Hi again Jolene,
As of yesterday, I did talk him into coming home, alone, this weekend sometime. But, he is determined that she comes in within a month to stay with him. I said, if he gets a job, finds an apartment and gets it set up, then it's up to him and his girlfirend to take care of themselves. But, let's face it, jobs are scarce, and no one will rent to a kid with no job, and he still needs to apply to college, she hasn;t done a thing since getting out of high school, for the past four years, nothing. This is absurd. Once he gets here, the talks will begin, he won;t like what he hears from me and his dad, but it all has to be said. This girl is gonna be his total downfall. I see it coming. It won;t last, and he'll be stuck with a lease and then come crawling back home to us to help. But this time, I am gonna give him the big picture and then he will have to decide if it's worth it. He is so hung up on being with someone, he isn;t seeing straight. There's no logic to anything he does. I am not even looking forward to this, and to think I couldn;t wait to have him home, now it's gonna be a battle. This could make or break our relationship. And it's tearing me up inside. And this is supposed to be the joy of motherhood.
On a brighter note, your son is sure a cutie!
