This weekend was one of the highlights of my life. The ceremony could not have been better. When the door opened for our sailors to march into the building, I was overwhelmed with a tremendous sense of pride. I have a whole new understanding of "Sup…

Hi everyone, I'm also wondering about 329. My son isn't very good about writing letters so I'm relying on this website for information. I'm eager for any information someone may have about BS.

Joan, I saw where you had left me a note but the page is not ther anymore. I hope Marc is doing great! He graduates this week. Wow. Good for him. Kelly classed p late because she was in the ceremony division, but then afetr hurting her knee they put her back a week in a regular division. She now graduates Oct 2nd. Been there a long time I guess compared to Marc. She is doing well though and we are trying to keep her positive. Only 18 more days and we get to see her. Enjoy your PIR. Sorry we didn't get to meet. Hi Joan! My son Ryan is in the same division as your son and will be going to Pensecola too. Our son's have some things in common. They both love video games, my grandfather was in the Navy during WWII, and my husband was in the Navy when Ryan was born! Very proud as well!

Joan,
How are you doing? How is your son doing? Hopefully, you have begun to receive letters by now.

Joan, God Bless you, you will get through this. 9 yrs ago I went through this, my son signed his final paperwork on 9-11-01, which happened to be his 18th birthday, the events of that day sent me into a tailspin, I knew we were going to war. When the recruiter came to pick him up to take him to the airport, I thought I was going to faint. But I did really good, I didn't cry in front of him, I waited until the car went around the corner and was out of site. I was a nervous wreck for the entire 9 weeks. When graduation day came and I got to finally see my baby, The pride was overwhelming, I hugged him so hard I thought I might break him. All I can tell you is to be strong for your sailor, because he'll probably get homsick, they all do, and when he finally gets to start calling home or writing, you will be able to tell, just comfort and encourage him and tell him you love him. Congratulations, you are now a Blue Star Mom

Joan,
I still didn't get Kelly's address today. I called the recruiters office but her recruiter was out and they said he is the only one who can look it up. Maybe tomorrow. I'm glad you got Marc's address. Wonder how soon they give them mail??

Good Morning Joan,
I received Kelly's box Friday also and that was exciting. They didn't let her keep anything! I was a little surprised by that. No under clothes, no running shoes, no toiletries. We are planning to attend the graduation also. Actually, I wouldn't miss it. Just counting the days until we get the phone call. 3rd week right?
Kelly is going for electronics. She really wanted to be a corpsman but they told her there was no chance. We encouraged her to go IT or IS but she took the school that would get her to bootcamp the fastest. They offered her electronics leaving in July and she said "great, sign me up!". By the time she went she was sorry she had decided to leave so fast! haha Especially since she will turn 18 in bootcamp (next Sat).
I have two other children. My oldest, Kate, has already joined the Navy also. She will be commissioned as a Nurse Corps Officer next August when she finishes her degree. My son, Matt, will be a sophomore at Liberty University and he also plans to be a nurse. I haven't talked him into the military yet though. lol My husband works in the intelligence community for the government. He is a computer specialist. We were both enlisted in the Navy when we met. I am currently a nurse working in the special care nursery at a local hispital 2 days a week. Tell me about your family. Garry, my husband, is from Pennsylvania so we are big Steeler fans. Are you a Twins fan? Mike Cuddyer is from here real close to us and his wife taught my oldest in HS. Real sweet couple.
Gotta run for now. Have a blessed day!

Joan,
So it has been a week, how are you doing? We received kell's box but we never did get a phone call. That was a little disappointing. Only 2 more weeks and we get a long call (I think).
I was born and raised around Des Moines. I went to HS in Collins bt it is a very small town and I graduated with 17. We used to vacation in Minnesota.
I have written kelly almost everyday. Can't wait to get a letter from her!
I am so excited about how proud she will be of herself! Are you planning to go to graduation?

Hi, Joan!
We received some letters from my son this week. It definitely feels better now that we have received two letters that sound as though things are going well. My son reported, "Sure there are moments that suck, but all in all, I'm having a good time." He was also pointed out that he is one of the guys carrying a flag so he will be up front at graduation.

Glad you found something in the quilt shop:) It's kind of small, as is everything except the lake around here (lol). Have you ever been to the eagle creek quilt shop in Shakopee? I really enjoy that shop.

Have a great day!

Hi Joan,
We have a lot in common. My youngest child (daughter) left for bootcamp the 27th. I am bored to death at home and thinking "Now what do I do". I am sure things will get better. My husband and I were both computer specialists in the Navy. The navy sent me on to nursing school and my husband works for the government in the computer field. I am originally from Iowa. The navy brought us to Virginia in 1980 and we have been here every since except for 3 years in Naples, Italy. I hope you are having a better day today. My daughter (Kelly) has her 18 birthday Aug 8th. Hope I get her address soon so I can send a card.
I will leave you with one little story: I was crying and cleaning up kelly's room Monday. When it occurred to me that she wasn't gone for good. We have recently had kids that graduated with kell who were killed in an auto accident. At least our kids are alive and well and they will be coming home! Thank the Lord!

Hi, Joan.
I live up in Walker...a great place to kayak! I will be going down to Red Wing tomorrow to pick up my daughter who is making her first quilt with Grandma. I would welcome the chance to visit. It will get better!
