About me:
I am a 43/yr old single Mom of two, Bryan (19) and Katie (15). They are both great kids that are my life. I am very proud of Bryan's decision to join the Navy. Bryan was looking forward to leaving Tucson and starting out in life as a sailor. Bryan's grandfather was a sailor as well as his Aunt and Uncle. He has a lot of family support as do Katie and myself. We both can't wait to see him later in July. I have to send my gratitude to all those here in the NW Tucson recruiting office as they hold a special place in my heart.
I am here to support or represent my:

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To be patient with the correspondence from my son. I am still learning to be okay with him being gone.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hey You.....just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you and wondering where in the heck you have been. Cory is due home next Friday for a week. Of course, I'm excited. There's a DEP picnic in Tucson next Saturday.....will you be able to make it?

Hey You! What's up.....I haven't heard from you or seen you on site in ages! Cory is back in Virginia, he had been in Africa! Said it was okay, but that they had the biggest bugs he had ever seen! I've got my reservations to fly there on the 23rd for a long weekend with him. He got his rate....gunners-mate, so he's a happy camper. Let me know what's going on with you.

Hey! Glad you had such a good time in Mississippi....of course, we knew you would. Anytime we get to see our kids the whole world just sparkles! I'm still hoping to do the October trip with you....count me in!! I'm off to go to Virginia the end of July for a long weekend with Cory. Cannot wait. Last I talked to him he was doing good. He's off on a training mission for 6-8 weeks...so no contact...a little like bootcamp! Joyce is coming up this weekend. we're doing a 7 mile hike in Fossil Creek (Strawberry) on Saturday and a Barnes & Noble coffee with some N4M's on Sunday. Let's think about that trip to Casa Grande....maybe the end of this month?? What does that look like for you?

Well...are you back yet? How's Bryan doing? Cory called at 0300 Monday morning to tell me he was on his way. Kinda reminded me of the "I'm here" call from bootcamp...only this time it was "I'm heading out now, mom. Wanted to say I love you". He sounds happy and it's only a training excercise ..not a real event. It's just that I've gotten used to talking to him at least once a week...and texting a couple of times in between... and now 6 to 8 weeks!! He did say he would call if he could, but not to expect it. Anyway...get back to me and let me know about the Mississippi trip!!

Forgot to tell you....the PIR 7/18/08 site is active again. It's been a year since our kids left for boot camp...and in July it'll be year that they have been sailors. Go on and update about Bryan. Connie left a post just a couple of days ago!

Hey! I just got in for Walmart...getting to be my favorite store...and there you were! Cory was supposed to leave June 11th and asked me to send a package with a few things.....so, I shop and head home....he texts not to bother, they are now leaving on Monday. Yep..in 2 days! Gotta love the Navy!

I still a go for the trip in October. See what you can find out. I know it's reservation only....so put me on "stand-by"!

I knew you were looking for a new job, but had no idea you were looking outside of accounting. An ortho office...WOW, now that's a real change. You'll do fine as manager!!! Doctors can be a real pain in the tush...but hopefully the office staff isn't!

Drop a line when you get home and tell me about the trip. Mississippi should be nice this time of year. Take lots of pictures so I can see them when we meet in Casa Grande!

Okay Joan: Tax season is over....so why haven't you been on in a while? Work's been a killer here. Have been doing 6 day weeks and about 3 of those are 10 hour days! I'm just much TOO old for this. Our weekend Admin. Nurse has been out on medical leave. She should be back the 1st of June.....can't be soon enough for me!

Got a call from Cory a couple of nights ago. He'll be testing for gunnersmate in the fall. He's been reassigned to a Seal Unit....Not a Seal...more like their go-fer/clean my gun guy, but he loves it. He's going on a training excercise with them June 11th. Will be gone 6-8 weeks. He's really excited.

Anything new with Bryan? Still checking on the trip to San Diego for October? Let me know what you're up to!

Hey! Just checking in to see how you're doing. Have you gotten any rest now that tax season is over? I had to work last Sunday...then this week...and my 2nd son, Brett, is getting married next Saturday! I really need to clean house before family starts arriving. I'm thinking of just stuffing everything in a box, vacuuming the floor and calling it good!!!

Joan: THANK YOU for the phone consultation r/t Cory's taxes. Would you believe it took almost 3 hours to get it done!! Next year I'm faxing them to you!!! Have a friend who used to do taxes for H&R Block who came over to help.....well, you talked to her on the phone,....I don't think she'll offer again next year...Murphy's Law at it's best. Finally got them filed about 9:00!! He's getting quite a refund, so that's good.

Will you be getting some rest now that tax season is officially over? Let me know about San Diego. I'm off to the shower and then to sleep. Catch you later. But again, thank you.

Hi There: No word from Cory...I texted twice today and no answer! Hopefully he got them done. If not, he'll just have to file late and pay the penalties. I'm sure he doesn't owe, but will hopefully get some refunded.

I would LOVE to go to San Diego with you and Katie!!! Drive or fly, I don't care....but I have a fairly new Toyota Rav 4, I can drive if you want. Do you have room reservations already? How many nights will you be staying? I can try to get a room at the Navy Lodge also....just let me know what nights! THANK YOU!!!!

I'll let you know what I hear from Cory.....if he calls tonight I'll call you.
