The recriuters have no idea of what's going on, or where your child will end up. Their job is to get them commited. After that happens, what you dream for your child, and what they want in their lives for their future, has nothing to do with anythin…

Brian- That link you shared with me was incredible. My daughter is at Camp Pendleton right now. When I talk to her, her PFA is important (she has trouble with the running- she's a 34 DD and it hurts to run like that- she wants to get her boobs off…

About me:
My daughter entered to U.S. Navy in September of 2007. I've followed her thru boot and beyond. Great Lakes was hard on her, because she was born and raised in South Florida. She was there in boot camp and A school thru a pretty bad winter, and became really sick with phnumonia. She got thru it though, and luckily, so did I. Now she is at Camp Pendleton just out of San Diego, and she's doing great and loving it. I talk to her almost every day on the phone. It's hard at first, and you can't talk to your child, and you don't know anything about anything they're going thru- but after all of that, all you can be is totally proud. I'm so proud of my daughter. I miss her alot, but that's just something I have to deal with, to allow her to live her life as she needs to. The fact that I feel so proud of her helps me alot to get thru being without her. My other daughter is her twin sister, living here with me. There are no words to describe how much they miss each other, after every day of their lives being together. But it's ok, we're all together in our hearts, and that will never change.
I am here to support or represent my:

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
An officer
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To be supportive. My daughter was trying to do what she felt was right for her life. She knew she'd have to leave to do it, and I knew it too. Even now, we both know, that she's carrying my love with her always everyday no matter what. And I have her love forever regardless of anything.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hi Joyce,
My daughter is now in the Middle East and during this time we can only e-mail. No pictures, video connections or attachments until further notice. I try to keep things light, but I feel that she keeps me calmer than I help her. She is requesting lots of pictures and I will oblige and we have been sending her care packages, since she said it is like Christmas when there is mail call.
Hope all is well and all of our military remains in my prayers

Saw your note of 2-4 pm on the "Moms of Officers" page. You said it so perfect that I had to copy it to my dgt. She seems to think that I am the only on who is so "nuts" about their "baby." I call her "my baby" all the time. I admit that I want her HOME WITH ME alot. I tell her that my head knows what is best for her, but that my heart wants my arms around her. I tell her that a 7 year old is not old enough to go off to college, much less join the Navy. They grow up so fast. Wasn't it yesterday that I was taking a movie of her getting on the school bus heading for kindergarten? AND SHE HAS BEEN IN FOR NINE YEARS NOW. Yes, it has gotten easier. She spent over 2 years in Japan. I went twice, once on my nickle, once on hers (she called crying and needed me NOW-of course it took 3 weeks to get there!)

Now the fear starts afresh as she is scheduled to go to Afghanistan. She has about 3 months of training, but if she makes it, (which she is so excited about) she wants to go. She says that that is why she joined, "to help the guys." And she even joined BEFORE 9/11. So my heart is so proud and SOOOO SCARED.

How old is April? What is her job?

Hi Joyce and welcome to N4M.
It is tough having them so far away. Sean has been in the Navy for over 11 years. He went in enlisted first and then received a ROTC scholarship, commissioned as an officer and then went to flight school. Your daughter will find that the opportunities open to her are endless.
Hang in there. We're all here to offer support.

Hi Joyce,

Welcome to N4M! Congratulation on your daughter April's service! I know you are proud of her.

Joyce, I saw your recent post in moms of officers and wanted to reach out to you. My daughter Pj is an officer also and I can relate. Feel free to stop by my page as well, Sherry

Congratulations and welcome. It's amazing how this experience matures our kids, isn't it? My son is finishing flight school in Jacksonville, FL now. It's long and difficult. They need our support, sometimes just as a good listener. I hope you find support here.

Hi Joyce,
Welcome to Navy for Moms. This is a wonderful site which is informative and very supportive. I also have a daughter in the Navy and she is an Ensign and currently out on deployment to join the fifth fleet in the Persian Gulf. She graduated from Officer Candidate School in RI last March and after 3 weeks at SWOS College which is there also, she had 3 days to pack up and head out to San Diego from New Jersey. She has been in San Diego (her base) since April 2008 and was deployed January 9th of this year and won't be back until August. I miss her terribly but thank goodness for e-mail. I send care packages and she seems to be doing well except for the 12-15 hour work days but they need to be prepared for anything. I am fairly new to this too, but anything you need to know there will be someone on this site willing to give you the information or where you can find it. Welcome and my prayers are with your daughter as well as all of our soldiers serving our country.
Sue
