EXPERIENCE IS WHAT YOU GET, WHEN YOU DIDN'T GET WHAT YOU WANTED

Profile Information

About me:
I'm a single mom with 3 boys. Cory, my youngest had PIR from bootcamp 7/18/08. The house feels really empty...I'm starting to get used to it. I'm a nurse, I grew up an Air Force Brat. I miss my son, but I am so very proud of the adult he has become.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I'm JUST NOW learning patience. It was 3 weeks before I received my 1st real letter. I'm very used to contacting my kids whenever I feel like it...through a phone call, text, or email. This waiting to hear from him was a real trial for me. But he seems to be doing fine and I'm learning to wait, He will be the one who initiates contact...not me!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi Julie! OMgoodness! Exciting times at your house for sure. How exciting for Cory. Wow, the stories he will be abe to tell. How was your get-together? Yes, when you hit 20+ people, that gets a little crazy. I read your note about the cookie for Cory. I had to laugh, becaue as I type this, there is a little priority mail box sitting on my desk. It is adressed to Jackson He was already back in California, but tod me to just use the unit address, that he would still get the package. I sent it on 9/10/09, Chocolate Chip Cookies. I am afraid to open the box! :-) Yes, the gettogether suns great andI think mybe

Julie - no, I haven't done the back yard yet, it just didn't seem like a priority. Nothing really bad, just a lot of leaves and debries. I did put all the furniture back upright though. Kevin is still in GL, finishing his last 18 days of ATT, he is set to move to Dahlgren on March 1. I am going to go to GL for a few days to be with him at Christmas so that he won't be alone, since most of the base will be gone on leave for stand down. It will definitely be a little different, being in a hotel room, without all the familiar things of home around. My daughter just got married in October and bought a new house out in Waddell, so she and her hubby are anxious to celebrate Christmas in their new place. But I still feel guilty that I am going to see him, and leaving her.

Where is Cory stationed in Virginia? Dahlgren or down south in Norfolk? He will be gone for 3 month? That must be hard. I hope that you can have a nice Christmas even though he won't be there.

As worried as you may be at times, I know you are also so happy for him because he really is happy. He does NOT want to sit around and do nothing, clean a gun and give it to the security guy and then repeat. This is right up his alley---the thrill of the adventure !!! remember how bumed he was when the adventure was over and he didnt think there was going to be more :( he had lost his spot, and that made him sad. NOW wooo-hoooo he is back and living out his dream.
(oh and guess what happened to me ????? ) TUCKER CALLED and he is SOOOO happy he LOVES IT LOVES IT

We travel home often, especially during football season. We've kept our Cardinals season tickets and come back for most of the home games. Plus, my daughter, grandbaby and stepdaughter live in the Valley which is the best reason to visit.

I have actually met Joyce once in Tucson (my mother and sisters live in the Tucson area). Love Joyce and her hugs! :)

I will absolutely let you know next visit, I'd love to meet more AZ moms! Thanks for the weather heads-up.

Oh Julie, Happy Thanksgiving to you my dear! Hope you had a fantastic Turkeyday. It was a wild weekend here. My computer completetly blew a gasket a couple weeks ago, so I decided this year would be the year that I would wait in line and Best Buy and geta great deal. Well, I got a great deal, but it took me all weekend to recover, and I have a nasty sore throat to boot! Geez. That was highly over-rated. Hope this finds all well my dear. Here's to a great week! Stac~

Julie! Great to hear from you....Thanksgiving was awesome...I think I've posted on the Crommelin page, that by the time everyone left, all I wanted was a warm blanket and some Nyquil...(hubbie and I both have been fighting colds all week)...and that's what I got. Yesterday, I didn't do anything....I slept until after noon, went straigtht to the sofa..ate and drank whatever was brought to me, and about 9:30, went back to bed....today I've been a little more productive, but I needed the rest! Glad your holiday was a good one, and your visit with Corey sounds awesome...I don't know if it was you I said this to....but I've posted this somewhere already: it's still a little unnerving to me when I think about it...for the next several years, spending time with my son will be a series of short, pre-planned visits. Still tough to get my head around that....I know it sounds weird, but I never really thought about that before he went in, and reality is tough to digest sometimes. I'm so thankful for the time we've been able to share, believe me, it's just a weird thing to think about the whole process.....guess I'm in a philosophical mood today.

Yea for the page!!! There have been so many to join who we don't hear much from, but I'm glad they are willing to share, at least that they are in the same boat with us! Hopefully we can been of help to them. Thanks for all you do to make it a warm and caring place Julie. Talk with you again soon!
