Profile Information

About me:
I have been married 26 years to Greg and have 2 wonderful grown children, Matthew and Morgan. I have been very involved with both their lives growing up and stayed very active playing both golf and softball. Our family is very active to say the least and very proud of all.

I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I have learned to keep the open communication and always wanting to listen to what he has to say. Encouragement to him is huge and him returning back to his father and myself. Just watching him grow into a man is such a wonderful and responsible person allows me to be such a proud parent . Thanks Matt.....
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Pre Christmas Travel

Traveling to Florida to my husband's family and not having either one of your kids with you, boy is that hard. I understand that having kids with you always when young but they too get older and spread their wings, then become their own person and make their own minds up. I really have to say that it is hard, hard to have one on deployment and the other working and staying home. But I do want to wish all Navy for Moms, their families and all Military a very blessed Merry Christmas and may our bl… Continue

Holiday time without YoYo

Well this our first Holiday Season without our man as he is on deployment and boy is it hard, harder than I would have thought. The holidays have always been a special time for our family, but this time it will be quite different. I know he is safe and doing what he needs to do but it sure does not make it easy. Always being able to talk to Matt has made it easier for me, but emails will have to do until he gets home. Letting go of the once boy that now has grown into a proud man that is out fig… Continue

Julie,
Thank you for kind words. We lost my father on the 13th. It was peaceful and at home. That's what he wanted. I hate the word cancer. What a bad disease. But we had a celebration of life instead of a funeral. It was so him. All he ever wanted everyday was to make someone smile or laugh. He is deeply missed.

Hi Julie,
Yes it has been awhile. My dad has turned acute so I don't really touch the computer much. Trying to keep him home. Had Marke come home because I believe the end is very close. What a roller coaster it has been the last two months. Last tuesday was when they told us and ever since my father has started down hill really fast. Hope your family is doing well and will check out the site probably after things calm down.

Hi Julie, I just looked at your pictures and they are wonderful! especially with Amazing Grace playing in the background. We received 2 calls the night he left. One from Chicago airport and then the one from arriving at BC. Other than that just keeping busy. Take care, Lisa

Hi Julie ~ Thanks for your offer to help me. Well, right now the dates to be in Syracuse are June 30 - July 5/6th. Yes, one of our church members was just there last weekend and loved it! I'm looking forward to visiting Syracuse my first time. Yes, he is looking at Syracuse for the fall. Thanks again ~ Sherry

Julie,
yes we are just an hour east of syracuse. My husband was raised in Syracuse so we are there often, as his parents are still living there. Our sailor has been in contact with his sponsor on the Port Royal. He is really looking forward to getting out there. (So am I!!!) It will certainly be a nice place to visit!!

Hi Julie ~

Thanks for the welcome but I have been a member for several months now. LOL Still learning new things all the time though. Yes, N4M is a good site to come to learn and meet nice moms like yourself. My daughter has been in the Navy for about a year now and is currently on deployment. Her ship is also in Norfolk, VA. I also have a son who just graduated high school this year.

We are planning to visit the Syracuse area at the end of this month. And I'd noticed that you were from Syracuse yourself. If it isn't too much to ask I was wondering if you might have any suggestion on things to do while there for 3 - 5 days? We're considering visiting the zoo and a local museum but have no idea of good & cheap diners (my personal fav) or local restaurant with character. Maybe you could recommend one or two. I'm also wondering if the public transit is fairly reliable for getting around to downtown and to Syracuse University. Thanks for any suggestions you may offer. blessings, Sherry

Hi Julie,
It's been awhile. How is your family? We are surviving here. Rick's plant offered a transfer and he accepted. The first year, Rick will be in Ohio and making decisions out there while I will be here with the kids trying to sell the house and making sure that the Ohio plant is sound. Never imagined that I would be in this boat again. Dealing with seperations from Marke and now add Rick to the mix. I know its only a seven hour drive and this will be hard but do able. My father started chemo again so that's been hard trying to think how can I move and still take care of him, when he doesn't want to leave his doctor up here. It's been hard. Hope Matt is doing well.
