Good morning ladies. I have not been able to participate in the group lately due to having walking pneumonia and strep throat. I know, probably too much information. LOL. My son has been aboard the USS NIMITZ for about a month now. I don't get to he…

Profile Information

About me:
My name is Kelley and I live in a northern suburb of Atlanta,Georgia. I had 2 son's until 16 years ago, when my youngest, Kendall, passed away @ the age of 2 1/2. My oldest, Tanner; who is now 20, decided he would join the Navy. When he first informed me of his decision to join, my heart absolutely sank right down my body, out of my feet and into oblivion!!!! He went into the DEP program so eventually I began to adjust; or at least I thought I had. As the time neared for him to leave for GL, I began to realize that the job I have had for 20 years "parenting, guiding, and making decisions" for my little boy was about to be nothing more but memories for me to reflect on; and my new job/role was about to begin as an "advisor and supporter. I am and will always be "mom"; and even though my heart sees him as this little boy who I once cradled in my arms, my eyes will be focused on a man. Tanner left for GL on May 5th and is in Div 232 Ship 7; and will go to A school in Pensacola as "Dry Air Crew". I miss my little boy so very much; yet I look so forward to seeing the man he is becoming!!!!
GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM!!!

Kelly-- that brought a tear to my eye.. my one and only child, a son Cody, just graduated High School in June of this year and left for Boot Camp on Sept 23rd... i have received many letters, but only the 1 phone call so we are hoping for another phone call this week :).. he has his PIR on Nov 20th and leaves for Pensacola on the 21st... he's an AM, so after A school and C school he will be placed with a squadron somewhere... he writes that he's not ready to grow up yet and hope he gets stationed somewhere over here on the West Coast :) anyway, thanks for joining our group and thanks for the kind words..

Hi, I'm not sure if your daughter was inquiring about participating in the Nimitz Holiday project or how to send packages to your son. To send packages to her husband she can send them to:

Sailor's Name & rate
Sailors section or dept
USS Nimitz (CVN-68)
FPO, AP 96620-2820

Hi Kelly, my mom and my brother got letters today and he sounded really good. He did not mention to my brother anything that was going wrong and they are very close...So with that being said I think they are ok....I will keep you posted if I hear anything at all....PRAY for a phone call and ask about Lat and I will ask about Tanner if Lat calls....

Kelly, can you send me a message and let me know what is going on? What did you hear about 232? Do you know where the problem is?

Your post was great... It was like I was doing the talking out of your words.
