I agree with KYmom.. that is what my son said and he got his 3rd choice and was top in class. So he was very upset. He thinks it is really just based off of where they need them. But we really don't know anything for certain.

When they leave A school the person with the highest grade gets first choice and it goes down from there. If I understood correctly.

good luck .I think they get to pick three places and the they go were they are needed.

Does anybody know what the chances are of getting where you want to be stationed? Do you get one of your choices? Has anybody been stationed in Fort Worth Naval Air Station?

Hello KY,
My son; Michael, graduated boot camp 12/29/06. He was in a 900 Division and was selected to be the Boatswain for his PIR. He graduated A school April 26, 2007. He finished first in his class and gave the "This day in Navy history" speech. I was very proud of his speech. It was about the history of the Blue Angels. He happen to graduate the day the laid CDR Davis to rest in Pensacoal. He was the Blue Angel that had died in a crash I believe in Georgia. So it was very thoughtful of him to have not only the history of the Blues but a moment of silence in his memory. Being from Pensacola we are all about the Blue Angels!!! Michael then was selected by the detailer to go to the USS Kitty Hawk cause that is where the delailer was going and he wanted a sailor like Michael on his team!! Michael was upset with that fact that finishing number one in his class gave him first choice of orders but Senior Chief White overroad that!! He has since cross decked to the USS George Washington. He has be promoted with both advancement exams that he has taken finishing first in the rankings both times. Senior Chief White got his monies worth out of Michael. He will be returning to C school in October 2010. We are looking forward to both of the boys taking leave in Sept to come home for a visit. Matthew is an AME3 stationed in Oceana!! I will have to join Matthew's group!! Both of my sons have done very very well in the Navy. Thanks for setting up this site it is wonderful to read what the other AGs are doing!!
Have a great day!! Annie

Your pictures are really nice! is your son in Norolk on the base? my son, Bruce thinks he might know him, he is really enjoying his job but he say's that maybe some time he would like to be on a ship, I would love to go visit him while he is there, he told me that the base is really big!!! he will be there for three more years! I sure do miss him alot and I can't wait to see him again! at least he was home a couple of weeks ago so that helped alot being able to talk to him face to face. I can't believe he has been in the Navy for a year already! actually it feels like a longer time. he went in right after he graduated high school (a month later). he said the barracks are not bad, kind of like college dorms. talk to you later!

Wow, your son has done alot. Does he like the Navy? My son can' t wait to go out on deployment. He is really looking forward to it. He really wants to go to SD but there is another hold up. Who knows when they will get to go. So I don't have any stories to tell anybody yet. But hopefully I will soon. I know your very proud of your son, I'm proud of mine too. Talk to you later.

I wanted to say hello, tell me about Brian, how long has he been in the Navy? what does he do on the Vinson? My son is in Security, has been for about 6 months now, he was ABF before. He really likes his job, and I miss him. I have not seen his ship yet, but I have seen some the other ladies have put on their pages, very impressive. Tell me about yourself.
I'm normally on the computer early morning or between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m.
I lead a pretty boring life, I babysit my grandchildren during the week, I don't work, I had to quit work 7 years ago because of medical problems.
I'm a firefighter volunteer. I do that on weekends, so I don't go completely nuts. I really enjoy helping other people.. I just did a wildland firefighting class, that was tough. I would much rather fight structure fires any day. Hope to hear from you soon.

Yes your are right that is Carol. How do you know her? We chat weekly pretty much and she is a trip! I love her! We have met that one time in person, but we do keep in touch .
Love your pictures. Nice camera you have too. I just bought a new one and will be taking it with me for my other son's ship's Tiger Cruise! Can't wait to do that. The homecomings are just awesome and you are right about the sailors having someone there if possible. It does make them really excited when they return to see a familiar face! I have some pics from the Ronald Reagan's return this past November. Not as clear as your pics since I had the old camera, but you still get the jist! They are back on deployment again! Oh and our Carol still uses an old camera with film in it!!!! We teased her at one of the NJ get-together's. She is so funny!
