Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Was relieved, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Be supportive, above all else.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:

Karen,
Thought I'd drop you a line so you can see the latest picture of Kay and me. She was able to come home on leave for 8 days over Christmas. Of course it was too short a visit, but she is doing well and it was wonderful to spend some time with her. She just picked up E-5. Everyone is doing well. Holidays were good. Hope you have a wonderful New Years. Give our love to Bob and the rest of the family. Jane

Thanks Karen. He called me tonight and I tried to cheer him up. I told him to go out with friends, have fun, see the sights. He said he does but Christmas time really sucks...poor baby. I know he will be fine. I am sure some of the married guys will not let him spend Christmas alone. I know he didn't have computer access in his room, but I'm sure once they are in a house or apt. they will have it. He has a web cam, as do we....I bought it as soon as I heard he was going to Japan...lol I'll have to look into Skype. I have heard of it, but never checked it out. Thanks for the ideas.

I have heard of Lipan.....so far you are closest to where I live that I have met on here. Ezra is coming home for the holidays on the 22nd through the 29th. Got his tickets bought and everything confirmed last night. (I think he got the last 2 seats on that flight). Can hardly wait for him to get here! Just hope the weather cooperates and there arent any storms come up.

Hi Karen, I read that your son is coming back from six months at sea? Is he on the Reagan? I am new at this, but my son Justin is on the Reagan and has been out for that long. We use to live in Ft Worth, and I had a friend from work who lived in Lipan, so I have been there. Nice country. Take care.

Hi Karen, I noticed your comment on Texas Moms to be able to invite some of our men and women home for the holidays. I know that on my son's ship web site, the chaplain's office organizes that program for the men and women in the Norfolk area. You might want to check out the web site for our local base and see if you can contact the chaplain's office or even a local recruiters office. They might be able to assist and direct you correctly. Hope that helps.

HI Karen, Thanks for joining the group of Mom's from Texas!!
Have you checked out the "Event" - Fort Worth Parade of Lights. We are going to have some moms participate in that!!

I do have one mom who was looking for a place for her son on Christmas. I think we found him a "home". You might want to check with C from T and make sure that all is still going as planned!!
Thanks so much for offering!! I wish I lived close to a base. I am in southeast Texas (near Beaumont).

Please leave a short message about where you live and what your sailor is doing. Also, please let us know how you found Navy for Moms.

My sailor son, Derek, is a MA (Master at Arms) - He just returned from three months in Kuwait and on oil platforms in the Persian Gulf. He is now stationed in Virginia.
