Yes, quals are much harder than BC and Sub School. But, you have to be qualified or "pinned" before you can really contribute. The sailors are hard on the new guys, but only to make them work hard for their quals. It sounds bad but it is a kind of...

Dear Bran's Mom, My son graduates on December 15 from ET Comm school in Groton! My husband and I are driving up there so I hope my son got the date right. Can there be 2 graduations in one week? My son will be going to Kings Bay after he goes to Washington for another school.

Hi Karen,
I am glad Bran was able to pick his base. Is he happy about going to Hawaii. Rich hopes to pick soon. Rich is doing well, and his hand seems to have healed. My nephew lives close to the base, so he and his wife have invited my daughter who lives in NYC and Rich for Thanksgiving. I am glad they will be with family. Are you going to be able to spend Thanksgiving with Bran? When does he graduate?

Hi Karen,
I just got back for a Navy Meet and Greet. It was a lot of fun. Rich broke his hand and had to have surgery to put pins in. He had to take a medical leave for a couple of weeks,so he came home for a few days this last week. It means that he will be pushed back to the class behind him. I think he will graduate in Jan. now. I hope you get to spend Thanksgiving with Bran.

Hi Karen,
It must be hard not to have spent much time with your son. From what I hear they all a Christmas break. Are you going to go to Brandon's A school graduation? Rich is supppose to graduate on Dec 10th, so we are going to try and make it.

Hi Karen,
Sorry Brandon is homesick. Has he gotten any leave since he has been there? Rich was able to come home in July and his sister lives in NYC, so that has helped. He is doing great and is currently first in his class, so he was pumped. He is suppose to graduate Dec.10. Hope all is well with you.

Hi Karen,
We toured the Nautilus, which was retired in the 80's. We were able to go down to the lower base and saw some of the subs docked, but couldn't tour them. It was about a 950 mile drive for us. We have a daughter in NYC so we were able to see both. Rich was on hold, so he requested leave and came home a couple days after we got back. He thinks he will also get leave at Christmas before he had to report to his assigned base.

Hi Bran' Mom,
I didn't see this until today. I was in Tenn. helping my parents out and just got back. My dad had a mild stroke a few weeks ago and is doing well. Anyway I am sorry Bran hasn't had a leave yet. I know it was so great to have Rich home. Have you gone to Groton at all? It was also neat to see the base. Rich started his A school for STS on Aug 3rd, so far he is enjoying it. If I remember correctly your son is an ET, has he started his A school yet?
