OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hey!  I just saw your message on my wall.  Thursday is definitely my favorite day, but after today it is tied with Sundays!  So glad to be able to email in real time.  My son sounded much better when he called a week ago.  I think the beginning was really rough, but things are leveling out now.  I know he is anxious to see us all!

Join AECF - FCs and ETs; your recruit will discover her rating while in BC, usually near the end of BC. "A" School is in GL, so you will also want to join Great Lakes A School Q&A and GL A-school moms. You can also check out the Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes Facebook Page.

The Rating Information Card for AECF can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/aecf.pdf. (It has an error in the number of weeks for ATT; it should be 9 weeks instead of 11 for FC and 11 weeks rather than 119 weeks for ET.) The Rating Information Card for Electronics Technician (ET) can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/et.pdf and the one for Fire Controlman (FC) can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/fc.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.)

You will be able to enjoy extra time with your Sailor following PIR. Plan to leave late Sunday or on Monday if you are able to do that. (See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend.)

Divisions 287 and 288 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 (BST) together, so look for others with loved ones in either division. Write to your recruit and ask when Battle Stations-21 (BST) will be so you will know when to expect the "I'm a Sailor!" call.
